Ok I was wondering what was average price per sq. ft. for roof cleaning

whenever I get up on a roof I start thinking I didn’t charge enough

I feel safer on a walkable roof rather than on a ladder. If I have to be on a ladder, I charge more.

We don’t charge by the sq. ft…we charge by the the size of the roof.

Not trying to be a smart alec, but what unit of measure do you use for that? Or do you just eyeball it?

I personally price by the square root of roof surface. Jason Heath directed me to a pitch gauge app that is perfect…It accounts for roof pitch, amount of gables, valleys, etc, and gives you the total area in a snap!

That was meant to say “square foot” not “square root”…Will there ever be an edit button here?

I charge by the square foot of roof space ,more for tile than shingle and then there is our minimum.
to come out to clean a roof

GuyB, could you explain that one?
I don’t get it.

Just going by the square feet of the home does not account for the garage, correct? Appraiser sites that give sq. ft only go by “living space”… from my understanding.

You want total roof sq ft
You can get that from google maps pull up picture of house right click hit measure and you can measure dimensions then figure for pitch.

Yep. There’s also an app called Measure Map, which I’m using and it works great! I take the dimensions with it, then use the Pitch Gauge app to figure pitch, etc. If I’m not on site I just estimate the pitch based on what the homeowner says or on what I can tell from the satellite image, and plug that into the pitch calculator. Works great!

Pardon me I should explain…Houses around here are cookie cutter. Different configuration but basically same size, and usually that goes for the roof. I don’t have the time or inclination to price out the sq. ft. of a roof. If I can see a picture of it…I have a price for it.

Gotcha.
We do mostly custom homes that vary widely in difficulty. A 10/12 with six valleys that dump into $50,000 worth of landscaping needs a little figuring.

Thank You so much… That was a great idea. That just made everything so much easier… Now how do you figure out pitch and how do you come up with a price for it? Thanks again…

Don’t do square feet
Every job is different
