There’s a decent chance I need to get a gear or belt drive pump soon. Problem is I can’t swing another $1700 on equipment, basically everything I’ve made thus far has gone back into my rig.
This prices me out of a 5.5 or 8gpm/3500 so I may have to just settle for another 4/4. If I didn’t do a lot of surface cleaning I would just slap on a 5.5 gear drive but it only gives about 2200psi by the time it comes out of the 200’ hose.
At 5gpm, you should be able to push 3000 psi or close to it at the pump, giving you adequate pressure at the surface cleaner for residential flatwork, at least. Use less hose and/or remove your injector for a little more oomph if needed.
Just verify that it will bolt onto your engine ok.
Personally, I’d rather owe a credit card company (or two) than owe the IRS.
Work out a reasonable payment plan with the friends you owe money to and stick to it. Then if they see you spending money towards your business, they don’t go all freak-out mode.
But we all have to figure out what works best for our individual families and situations.
Resale value on machines is usually not great. I personally think it makes more sense to upgrade the pump if you know the motor is in good condition.
I’ve decided on a 5.5/3500 as I’ve finally saved enough. Can’t go 8gpm, tank is too small.
I have a choice of Vanguard and Udor gear drive, or Vanguard and General belt drive. Southside said belt drive definitely but the gear drive seems more compact. They quoted around $2800 and will take a couple weeks to get in.
