Pump running hot?

Anyone have an ideas why his pump is hot though? My pump and gear box are untouchable hot but I figured moving things naturally get hot… my machine is working perfect and the cap is vented

@TexasPressureWashing dont start that debate. @Bigbendwashpros its not hard to do if you have the time or like to do that kind of thing. If you don’t just buy one like @Innocentbystander said. @AAPressurewashing00 your pump should not be that hot send us so pictures of your set up

hahaha not a debate just a personal opinion. Either option makes you money.

I’m handy with things like that, so I probably could do it. Are there any how to videos out there? Or is it just as simple as getting a belt driven skid and mounting everything and adding a belt

That debate sounds like the old soap wars over on the wcr side. :rofl: You would have to read those threads. They were rather intense. I plan to make my gears out of pine on my lathe anyway when I convert so it should be just fine. :rofl: (joking)

I don’t have that experience. My machines are 4.5 GPM direct drives and they run so cool that on a hot day condensation forms and water puddles underneath them. I kept thinking there was a leak somewhere.

I’m leaving for a week but the fluids are due for a change, I’ll change them when I get back and make sure the levels are good… I run a 5.5 2500, 3/8" bypass line on a pressure trapped unloaded so I could up the size to 1/2" and see if that helped any… 1 in feed line so that’s all good

Your direct drive isn’t feeding from the tank correctly. It only takes in what is being fed it doesn’t have suction like belt and gear drives do. I’d really consider upgrading to a gear or belt drive machine if possible. You could always put a 7gpm 12v between the tank and machine but that’s just a pain if you ask me. So my guess is that your machine is running hot and probably louder than usual since your pump is starving. It’s likely damage has already been done.

You don’t happen to have a mesh screen in that water inlet fitting, do you?

$1500 won’t buy a decent machine.

I have a 4/4 rn that’s what u was referencing

Yes I do… I should put an inline filter shouldnt I? I

I would make a strong guess that the mesh screen is clogged and starving your pump.

Doesn’t change my comment

@Innocentbystander

@Bigbendwashpros what have you contributed to the forum?

What does that have to do with anything? I’m just giving him ■■■■ for making fun of my machine

I’m not making fun of your machine. I’m saying $1500 won’t but a decent machine. There are tons of guys out there using homeowner grade machines

That’s not making fun lol that’s just saying don’t waste your time. Sometimes things are just what they are, while it can be done what would it cost you if you mess it up.
