Pump problems....I think?

I have a brand new pressure pro 4K psi 4gpm belt driven. I have had to pull the spark plug as it was apparently tipped during transport. When I got the oil out of the spark plug well and hooked up supply for water it still won’t allow me to pull the start cord. Upon further investigation i found that for some reason my water isn’t free flowing from the pump. I have disconnected the unloaded from the pump and made sure water is flowing in and still no water coming out of the outlet. Is there something I’m missing to make the water free flow without the pump running

Are you force feeding it with a hose or plumbed to a tank?

Are you saying the pull rope is just to hard to pull? Kind of like there’s too much compression?

Could be water locked

I’m plumbed to a 275 IBC with 175 gallons in it. I’m not force feeding it but it does have about 5.5 gal flow out of the tank.

The start cord won’t budge when I try to pull it. I’m thinking the water is locking it up possibly but I can’t seem to get the pump to pass water out of the outlet

Take the belt off and try

As stupid as this sounds you need to find the instructions and read over it carefully. It wouldn’t surprise me if they shipped it with some plastic block or something keeping the drive from spinning. Pull the belt guard and see if you can free spin it by hand because maybe something even fell in there.

Will it pull when the plug is removed?

You won’t get flow out of the unloader if it is plumbed to a tank like you would if it is force fed. I would start by hooking a hose up to it and try again.

Make sure there is no pressure in your line. Hold trigger down upon starting her up.

It turns over just fine when the spark plug is removed. I will try and force feed water with a hose and see if that makes water come out of the outlet side of the pump. I am also going to make sure I have gotten all of the oil from the spark plug well. Thanks for everyone’s help.

If it pulls with the spark plug out the engine itself is probably hydro locked from tipping during shipping. With the plug out continue pulling the rope numerous times until all of the oil comes out of the cylinder. It’ll probably smoke real bad at first when it starts up. Be sure to check the oil level before starting in case you lost a bunch.

Will do. Thank you.

Thanks everybody for your help. After further review I had more oil in the spark plug well and the water just didn’t have enough force to free flow through the pump. I hooked it up today and made sure the oil was out after about 100 pulls. Now it’s running like a champ. Thanks again for taking the time to respond.

Good deal man now get to work lol. In the future you can also feed some nylon rope in the cylinder, run the piston up, leave it there for a for minutes and back it up to release your now oily rope.

That’s good thinking there. I wish I would have thought of that but then again I wouldn’t have gotten the same work out with the rope.
