Price this job

Inspired by @Racer and a few other folks who have been comparing pricing, which I think is pretty dang fun, I’m posting this:

Warehouse facility, in a city we’ve never worked it.

It was a business to business referral. The rental company we’ve been renting hot water units, lifts, and water tanks from for a couple years introduced us to the plant manager. After speaking with the plant manager it sounded like the estimate is a formality.

Question #1: Would you charge more, less, or the same?

We’re adding a 5% discount to labor because it was a warm business to business referral, but I’m curious to see what others would say.

Some more info:

All water access via hoses is pretty much out of the question as hoses would cross where trucks and forklifts are constantly moving so trailered tanks are being delivered.

It is going to require a 4 wheel boom lift is being delivered.

110 gallons of SH is being delivered.

We’re going to try X-jetting first, but if it doesn’t work on the first pass this will be my 1st softwashing job via the maruyama pump.

Two employees and myself.

It’s an hour away from home base.

One exterior wall is 365 feet long by 35’ to 40’ high

The other exterior wall is 316 long but turns a corner and has an overhang above a dock. The over head is getting washed too. 71 x 45

Any other info, just ask. I’ll tell you what I charged after the job is finished because there’s a KC lurker on the forum.

Question #2: what would you charge?

Oh and the 365 foot side is up against rail road tracks and goes down hill. It’s perpetually soggy there apparently due to a creek not 200 yards away so access on the back side could be interesting.

Out of my League! but I know a owner of a welding company that bought a building just a Lil smaller than that one and needed it cleaned. Asked me if I wanted to do it, I said no. I wish I was set up to it he paid a company $20,000 yes $20,000 cash to come in and in one day they cleaned it up.

Saving every dollar I make to put back into my business so I cam make this kind of money

For a $20k day, I’d make sure it was in my league.

You know what’s funny… this forum and others has enough info on marketing and pricing that you could run a pressure washing company without equipment, employees, or even a truck if you really wanted to.

If someone called, you could get the info to 2-3 of your local pressure washing contractors, get their estimates and availability, and add 10%-25% reasonably depending on the size of the jobs. Win the job, send those companies, never wash a darn thing, and make great money.

Way more than I could have handled in the time frame they needed it done in, if there was no time frame I’d been on it.

Why couldn’t an individual follow the same model though?

I don’t have a 12v system and not particularly interested in getting one, but I did message Racer asking about the fatboy kit at Pressuretek.

It may be how we go.

I have a maruyama Chemical pump that runs hooked up to a Honda gx200 so we may softwash it, but I don’t know. Even if we softwash it we still have to rinse with the pressure units.

This is no different than x-jetting strip malls like we do really. It’s just two big house sides.

I priced the lift at $1080 for 4 days worse case scenario. I think at best it’ll take two.

Yeah I just got my fat boy pump today… defiantly get it from pressure tek, he re wires them then put his sticker on , some one told me but it’s a big ass pump… can’t wait to hook it up and try it

I’m not seeing where ypu will needed the lift. Especially with the chance of burying it in the mud

what’s total perimeter you’re cleaning and or sq ft of building? I agree with Innocent, why would you need a lift. I could clean that with my 4gpm machine.

The overhead for sure. They want behind the gutters cleaned specifically.

Also, planning for the worst and the rental company got me this job. Goodwill.

Just the two north sides and overhead area

My parents are getting older and gave me their old camper. I went out there today and found a brand new 4GPM pump in a cupboard. I don’t have any experience with pumps, but I bet it’s not good enough for a softwash/roof wash system. I guess I’ll use it as a chemical to mix tank pump and dial down the power through wiring. Anyone have any insight on this? What would be the best application for this pump? I don’t want to let good equipment go to waste.

Anything over $2500 gravy. That will clean up nice with strong HW mix with good soap downstreamed. With one helper to drag hoses one day tops. Doesn’t include all the other crap you’re doing like lift, water tanks, etc. I’d do day they’re closed if there are any.

But hey, charge them what you think they’ll pay. Heck, charge them $20k, then you can sub it out to Innocent and I for $12k. We’ll take Innocent’s jet up one morning, rent your equipment from you for the day and be home before dark, lol.
(That’s assuming you’ve got your 8gpm machine by then)
