Pressure Washer Recommendations for New Biz

Good Evening all,
Getting ready to take the leap and start up a pressure washing business on my days off from the FD. Been heavily researching here and narrowed my search down to two washers. The 1st is a 4/4k machine with a CAT pump. The 2nd is 5/3k machine with a AR pump. I know CAT pumps were highly regarded l, so I heavily steered towards that, but is not available with the large 5gpm unit. I will be working in Central Florida doing mostly concrete driveways, patios, and stucco walls. I feel the recommendation will be to go with the larger gpm unit, but want to get everyone’s feelings on whether 3k psi will be adequate for my needs. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance.

The pws53a is not a general pump in that link.

Thank you for catching that. I made the correction. Any experience with that pump or unit?

I’m still learning a lot myself. But my understanding would be 3k is more than enough for concrete for what you said you’ll be doing. (Though if doing many driveways your gonna be interested in surface cleaner also) Could even possibly do damage at times if you don’t get a good understanding of it. The top machine also is little off on its ratings from my math. Should be gpm × psi ÷ 1100 = hp needed. Can’t do 4 gpm and 4k psi with 13hp. But still not a big issue as you don’t need 4k. If I were to be buying a new machine I’d be looking for 5+ gpm. The second one 5gpm again is little off on hp needed. First thing many are gonna say is read. A quick search for “concrete psi” gave several references to dive into that area. There’s quite a bit of posts that will help guide you on what you’d need for different materials and possibly show you some things you haven’t considered. The which machine is better question has been asked so many times. There’s a guide in newbie section I believe. It will help point you in right direction also. And if you have some wrenching skills you could consider putting your own together with the knowledge from this site. Know I didn’t really answer your question but hope this helps some.

Thanks for the reply and info.

I suggest at least a 5.5 @3500 psi machine.
