Potentially first roof wash?

Diamond wash is right. Easy job. Pre wet the dormers and move your ladder where you are spraying staight up beside the dormers and you can keep your spray about 6 inchs away from the dormers the splash will be enough to get your mix the rest of the 6inchs. A pump up sprayer isnt going to work well on this one nor will a 2.2 Delavan. Northern tool sells a good 5.5 gpm pump for $150. If you hit the dormers with your mix just rinse it with your PW. Pre wet the ground under the roof too. Gave a ground guy using your PW or a garden hose intercepting any mix you might over spray. Bring a water tight roll around trash can so you can put your bags of mix in. That way you are not carrying it over the grass or concrete. You can make a roof system using a 55 gallon drum , $150 pump , $250 300 feet of hose, $120 Marine battery and another $40 for the( ball valve, 6inch poly wand, 1/2 to 1/4 coupling with QC then attach your jrod tip to it) and there you go roof system for $560. Just cut pieces of your hose off for the small amount of plumbing to connect it all and to make a drop hose to go in the 55 gallon drum and you will still have 275 feet of hose.

Thanks for all the emergency advice guys, I’m doing this tomorrow…had to move it up. I’m doing the windows later this week.

I’ll post before and afters tomorrow, should be interesting.

Another question, how many of you roof washers use respirators? I bought one just in case.

I always use one. Do one roof without one, and you’ll learn why pretty quick.

Roger that.

It has been my understanding that you DON’T rinse the roof after treating…let it stay on and kill the stuff and let rain rinse it…for asphalt shingles.

I get conflicting suggestions about this, to rinse or not to rinse. I don’t know how the affluent homeowner will feel about leaving the mix on the roof…

The guys around here all leave it on…except on metal.

If I had mine done, I would not want it rinsed…that would give it max time to kill everything…but that is just me.

The homeowner did say she wanted it done due to a party at that house? If yes,
maybe take that as it should look clean by then.

It should look clean with the mix alone without rinsing.

Ok here is the after, I think my xjet is still set up for the 4gpm machine as it just blasted out a huge fan of spray and really didn’t empty the bucket like I expected.

I went ahead and applied some house wash mix after and we’ll see what it looks like when I come back to do the windows in a week.

You won’t be able to xjet a roof with an 8gpm.

Just take a pump up with u when u go to do the windows and hit the black streaks .

Only way to x jet a roof is with a 2.5gpm machine or throttle down ur 4gpm.

I have a 5.5/3500.

Many times I idle down my machine while I’m using the xjet. The spray is more controllable and at a higher concentration.

Have never tried using it on a roof, but have a good feeling that it would work ok if there wasn’t moss.

Won’t be able to xjet a shingle roof…xjet and 8gpm is fine on a metal roof…at least it has worked great for me.
