Please identify my pump guys

Many PW forums are a joke

Read the forums, and even here with a grain of salt. Most guys are running one machine, usually 4 or 5.5 gpm, 20 or so hours a week. They buy what the vendors offer because they don’t know better. Dare say 80% are running pressure pros because they are heavily marketed. It’s irrelevant to me what others use or what f my advice is taken. Either way it’s free.

And as a former diesel wrench Turner, nothing finer than a Detroit 60 series, B model Cummins or 7.3 :grin:

I literally laugh out loud at more things you post than anyone else here😂 (that’s a compliment!)

Let’s thing about this, most every “brand” of pressure washer out there today looks like this

Honda engine

General Pump

2 pulleys

2 or 3 belts

A Beckett burner

100 feet or so of heavy steel tubing

A couple temp and pressure sensors

A piece of aluminum, mild steel, or stainless steel

A handful of bolts

A few feet of wire

An unloader valve

4 rubber mounts

I realize there are a few briggs and Kohler mixed in there, some comet and Cat sprinkled in, but for the most part, Honda, general, and Beckett

So pretty much the only variable is the controls/switches, and whoever is bolting it all together.
How can it be that if this guy puts these parts together it’s junk, and if this guy puts it together it’s the best products EVER? I believe Pressure Pro gets a bad wrap because the sell more machines, and the more you sell the more likely you are to have a bad one here and there. I just don’t understand why if Billy bolts it together it’s crap, but if Johnny puts the exact same parts together it’s better than anything ever created. I THINK that HOTSY has their own pumps, but I’ve also heard they just rebrand

I may be way off here, and I’m wrong A LOT, lol, but seems to me they are basically all the same with different stickers on them.

I’m not following all your saying or agreeing with it. If pressure pro puts a cheap pump and cheap unloader on a flimsy aluminum skid, or if Billy does it, it’s still junk. But either way, glad I can make you laugh. It’s good for the soul.

They don’t call Detroit the motor city for nothing!

Bingo. They pretty much are. That’s why I don’t but them.

Cadillac CTS-V vs VW bug? Or Chevy vs GMC?

Yea, that’s 6 THOUSAND more. 91% more. Sry, I guess I’m missing somethin.

The 6 grand difference is in the pump and Wayne burner. :joy:

@Hotshot

For $500 more you could buy 2 PP, save one if the first goes belly up, then you got a parts rig in the shop. :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I get ya. I honestly don’t know. I got a Hotsy not to show off. I got a Hotsy , because parts are an hour and a half away ,they loan me one soon as I drop mine off if it has a problem, and it has ,twice. Also the warranty was unmatched. My 1080 was $7 ,my 1075 was $6200.

I did notice there is a weight difference between the PP and Landa. Almost 100 lbs…

Maybe I’m missing something. I don’t even own a hot water machine. It sounds like you think I’m promoting landa over pressure pro or something. Or maybe I’m reading your posts wrong. I don’t own a landa, hotsy, pressure pro or any assembly line machine

@Innocentbystander

No sir! I’m not implying anything, just pointing out that it’s crazy how pretty much the same parts bolted together by a different group of people can range nearly double price. every piece of equipment I own is a hodgepodge of junk I gathered up here and there. I’d much rather gather up parts, clump them together and try it out, than pay double for a sticker on the side.

@Hotshot

I definitely understand a good dealer standing behind their products, offering good service when it’s needed, and having parts on hand is worth as much as the machine itself, which kinda makes it worth twice as much. I’m not that guy though, I rarely buy anything new, and I enjoy working on and putting things together. Rebuilding, reconfiguring, testing and finding failures!

When I first bought mine I was shocked at the price’s. Not so much the Hotsy ,it’s a lil pricey, but Landa,Alkota are just crazy money. So I went for the ,do you want a Harley or a moped. Meaning Landa or a north star, both are on the opposite side of the money game. Also I can’t honestly break down and say, OO poo I’ll be back tomorrow hopefully after I get it fixed. My bread n butter are lined up like cord wood on different lots Friday afternoon till Sunday evening.

I don’t give a flying cat turd if it says Fisher Price on the side and it’s pink, I just need something reliable and to work as hard as I do. When my pump pukes oil out the side within 7 years I get a new one sponsored by hotsy. After the warranty runs out ,I’m gonna throw a udor at it and rebuild from there. I know this ,it sure is a racket. I just hope to move forward without taking to many steps back,learn from the vets here and keep on keeping on.

@ShinedUP
I’m with you rarely bought anything new.
I took a chance on this pressure washer for $40 but the engine doesn’t look too good. if I can get a good eBay engine for five or six hundred and pump is okay, I’ll be in pretty good shape. Thanks again to all! Kevin

Best of luck. But when you do this full time 4 a living, and your main income is limited to 3 days during the week. I think I’ll stick to not taking a chance on a $40 PW and eBay. But to each his own I gather. Again, best of luck to ya’ll
