Painted concrete steps

So a customer calls today (from my new trailer mounted signs…woohoo!) and says the front concrete steps of her townhome are painted a hideous color blue and she tried to blast it off with her Depot machine but go almost no results. Is there a particular chemical I can use to remove this? Should I try straight high pressure?

Tell her to paint over it with a color she likes.

She said that’s why she called. She didn’t want to paint it lol.

Don’t chase headaches.

Depending on if its flaking already, a turbo might get it up. Probably will need a stripper though and can be messy.
Ultimately i agree with Innocent, either charge a lot and then some for extra pita factor or just move on.

I just had a sidewalk on Thursday. Some contractor convinced the lady to paint her sidewalk terracotta to match her pavers. Problem is pavers are more of a brick red color and terracotta is more of a dark orange. Tan house, burgundy shutters, orange sidewalk. It was pretty hideous. He used some lame Home Depot paint and it was about 50% flaked off by the time I saw it. Couldn’t get any easier to strip, right? Wrong. I hit it with 4000 PSI and it did exactly nothing. I wound up painting it sandstone and I caulked the expansion joints. It came out great.

Sherwin-Williams sells a kit with small sample tubs of 4 different strippers. It costs me about 35 bucks. Try that in 4 different places and see which if any of them work. Then you’ll have a good idea of what it will take to strip. It’ll be tough to get all of it! You might just have to grind it off.

Painting is a really good option. So is walking away.
