It’s a dumb question that I’m probably overthinking but nevertheless it’s driving me nuts!
I have a 4gpm pressure washing machine. Gas powered with a Honda engine. I am looking to start a business with this and for that I’m looking to get a small cargo holder for the back of my SUV. There I will store my pressure washer and all of my chemicals including my pump up sprayer.
The problem comes down to the Hoses. Both pressure hoses and also Garden hoses. You know how usually on the side of a Garden hose reel, theres a little input where you can attach your inlet to the spigot? I feel like im rambling about nothing, but how would I exactly run a Garden hose from the back of my suv, if the inlet from the reel is too short to reach the spigot? Would I just take the reel and place it next to the spigot instead of running it from the back of the SUV?
Another question about a pressure hose reel. Where do I get the inlet which attaches to the pressure washer? Usually I would just attach the pressure hose itself to the pressure washer than the other end to the gun, but since I wanna use a reel I’m gonna need a extension which reaches from the pressure washer to the side of the reel.
I feel like I’m honestly confusing myself wayy more than I should. Can you guys help me figure it out?
You would use smaller hose line to connect to your pressure washer. The large main hose would to get to customers water source.
Whip line (short line) from pressure washer to hose reel. Then main long line hooks up at reel and bingo bango presto chango
So if I was using a 100 foot flexilla garden hose, I will connect the small hose (instead of the 100 foot hose itself) to the pressure washer and then connect the main 100 foot hose to the water source?
So it would go water source>Hose>Shorter hose > Pressure washer.
I feel like I just repeated what you said, but just to clarify
i would leave the reel in suv and roll up from there when done. it beats carrying the whole thing twice, to and from the spigot. not fun if that’s what your thinking. you’ll need to do some changing or add adapters to the ends of hose meant for a home garden hose. female ght at end of long hose, and male ght to machine.
You are getting a hitch receiver cargo hold for your stuff? Are you getting insurance? When something falls off that cargo hold you will be liable for damages. How about getting a small trailer?
It sounded like they will have it inside the cargo area of the suv. Hopefully this is a beater vehicle and they don’t care about the smell of gasoline, chems, and getting liquid everywhere inside.
Yessir insurance is in the question. As for a small trailer i’m 17 i can’t afford it
Its not gonna physically gonna be in the back of my suv. Its gonna be in a hitch receiver cargo hold

Don’t do that. It’s just asking for trouble.
I’m not busting your chops, so don’t take this the wrong way, but you are going about it backwards. I understand that you don’t have a money tree in your backyard to go shake and get a few bucks, but you also need to fund your business accordingly. You could side hustle it and roll the loot into new gear, forgoing paying yourself for a bit, but the most common reason businesses go bankrupt is that they are under funded. Having something small that you can afford and grow into and out of without busting the bank is a big deal. Look for a used trailer if you can’t afford a new one, or maybe trade the suv (if it is yours) in on a small pickup. You could use the pickup bed to get started out of. The cargo thing seems like a good idea…until it isn’t. Insurance should cost you a couple of grand, if you are getting you business insurance for the equipment, vehicle, and of course liability.
I’m just a part timer, and I am retired, so I paid for all my stuff in cash up front. I understand that this isn’t your situation, but you might be better served by waiting and funding your business a little more. Timing is important. It is almost the end of the season in a lot of areas (maybe 2-3 months) and a lot of going out of business units will become available like they do every year. A lot of areas might be going into the end of summer slump and some people will sell their stuff at this time. Some of them can be had for a decent amount, and they might come with the trailer. Just one guys .02.
Good luck.
