New roof washing mixture?

With no gutters I use a ground man who’s only job is to hold a water hose and dilute the plants and ground. If your by yourself cover up plants with plastic and keep spraying ground from Roof every so often. Even though I use a pressure washer for applying chemicle and rinse I always explain to Customer that it will be turned down to low pressure. I’ve never had a problem with that

@Alabama Most homes I do don’t have gutters either. I run my pressure washer hose around the side I’ll start on and hose off all the plants (sometimes I will cover the more delicate ones). Then I’ll hop on the roof and clean that section. I always spray the bottom 3 - 5 of the roof last to minimize the amount of runoff that occurs before I make it back to the pressure washer. I then hose off all the plants in that section again before moving on to the next area I want to do. I usually end up repeating the process in certain areas because typically you’ll have to touch up parts that didn’t come all the way clean. I always rinse the bottom third of the roof before I go and, of course, rinse off all those plants again. Don’t forget to rinse the neighbors plants also if you think you may have spritzed them. That’s how I do it anyway. With guttered homes, the method is the same but I bag the gutters and spend less time rinsing plants.

@Paul_Kelly So do you downstream your chemicals?

Thanks for the info. Trying to pick as many brains as I can about roof washing to see if it’s worth the time and money invested. Looks like it can add a good bit of $$$ in my pocket if done correctly.

No. I use a xjet m5. With 50ft of hose. Keep my s.h in 5 gal buckets on the ground. I don’t dilute s.h.
I just drop feed hose in bucket and spray. Can get about 1.6-- 1 ratio. Also put Dawn soap in buckets.
Works great for me.

@thepelican @Paul_Kelly do u guys rinse roofs after applying chemical?

I typically rinse the bottom 1/3 of the roof if there are no gutters. For homes with gutters, I usually won’t rinse unless the downspouts empty into a flower bed or something. I know one guy who never rinses, but I don’t know how he gets away with it. If there’s a brief, light rain you could end up with a yard full of burned plants.

Hey guys, My father and I have been using this chemical New Again for years comes out of Florida, after ordering it usually takes a couple days to get it in. We use it for decks and roofs, the stuff is amazing and bio-degradable. Try some if you get a chance

What’s the active ingredient?

Sodium Hydroxide
Sodium Orthosilicate
Surfactant Nonionic
Surfactant Anionic
Surfactant Cationic

How much is it? It would prob be cheaper to just use SH.

All that is is lye soap. Caustic potash. Don’t put it on a roof. Roofing manufacturers recommend bleach. It is good for decks though.

This worked well for us on both, just giving others a different option other than SH.

I wouldn’t buy something that cost more than sh just to try and get the same result anyways but thanks for the heads up.

Hey sorry I’ve been of this site for a Bit. But yes I rinse after
