New beast (the limarado)

Haha…I just remember hearing about flooded vehicles making their way up to us after Katrina. People were having all kinds of problems. Well, I shouldn’t say all kinds but you’d hear about it every now and then. You don’t really think about a vehicle being flooded by saltwater when the closest ocean is a15 hour drive.

I kinda feel like new with a warranty is better. Sure you have a payment. But that’s cheap compared to repairs and downtime!

I’ve been buying my vehicles off the state property disposal agency. I get a good price and a well maintained vehicle. I haven’t had a major mechanical repair since I started. Closing in on 20 years. :astonished:

You need to do a thorough check, run the vin. A lot of vehicles have been salvaged due to flooding in the gulf states. As far as the 5.4l 3valve. I have the same motor in a 2005 f250 and she’s running at 325k. It’s hit and miss with the 3valve. Listen to the cam phasers real close. And you can even unplug one and pull the rubber boot off to look down into the valve cover.

Man, I wouldn’t have guessed that! At the college we maintained what we had but we kept it until it was worthless. Maybe you live in a richer state where they actually upgrade before it’s junk?

Well, she’s not brand new but I’m happy to finally have a truck. Going to get it decaled tomorrow. Not sure if I should just wait till spring to build the truck set up and ditch the trailer… it was almost freezing this morning but I have a handful jobs next week.

What year is that?

  1. High km but it was well cared for by the previous owner.

Not sure about the richer part but it’s worked excellent for me. Rust is a non-issue out here so that may be part of it.

That’s a good looking truck! I’m considering doing away with the trailer too. I want a longbed for a truck though and mine is the short box. May be time to trade it in

I had the exact same truck in high school. But mine was a 99. That’s the year Chevy rushed to push out that model and cut corners on the 99. I had tons of problems with it. But I was also 17 and took it kidding every weekend lol

Great looking truck! Should be a good one since Chevy had time to work out bugs.

A SMART Canadian. @Max1 look in your glovebox and see if you have the G80 locking rear differential. Those trucks will go a million miles if taken care of. My cousin has one with 450k+ that his dad bought new and handed down. I think they rebuilt the transmission after 300k but other than that it’s just been regular maintenance.

Thanks and yeah I can’t wait to be done pulling the trailer. I won’t miss hooking it up and managing to park in tight areas.
Thanks @SchertzServicesLLC. My good friend is a “mechanic” and has been driving one for years and swears by them.
