Never had this happen

Hey guys. I run a predator 4 gallon per minute machine. It’s about a year old and have been all of the maintenance on it. Today I hook the water hose up to the pressure washer which is connected to the house. Everything is running fine. And then all of a sudden the water hose collapses flat. What could cause this to happen? Thanks

Only when I throttle it up. I can also see the pump spinning.

This is the supply hose going flat? Pulling from a house I’ve only ever heard of that if the house wasn’t supplying enough or if the hose failed.

Have you tried a different supply and different hose?

I agree with magic man on this one. It sounds like your supply isn’t putting out the 4gpm your pump is demanding when you throttle up. The other simple thing is to make sure the hose is turned all the way on. You can also do a bucket test with your water supply to see if it’s putting out at least 4gpm.

Get a better hose. Your pump is creating vacuum that the hose can’t handle. Are you running some cheap garden hose?

Ah yes, had this happen when I first started. The pump kept cavitating every half minute or so and discovered the spigot was only putting out 2gpm.

Make sure the homeowner isn’t doing laundry or taking a shower, etc when you’re washing.

Thanks for the replies guys. It was at a clients house when this happened. I came home and hooked it up to my house water and it did the same thing. Neither has ever happened before.

That’s just weird. Try another hose.
