Need help quoting this house

Please help guys. He said it’s @ 5000 square feet. There is no street view. House plus barn on back of property. I going by to take a look tomorrow just because it’s such a big house.

If you are going to take a look tomorrow…why do you need help quoting the house?

If you are the property, you should be able to arrive at price, without much problem.

I’m assuming he’s some what new and is not used to quoting houses of this size.

@Kentt713 no one can really tell you what to quote a job for. From a business prospective when you’re in the service industry you charge no more and no less than the prospective client can pay. The thing is that everyone is in different positions and in different areas. Obviously the owners have money but how much are they willing to spend on the service that you’re offering? How much does the home cost? How long is it going to take you? After gas, and travel, and chemicals how much h will it cost you to do the job?

Figure those things out first. Then figure out how much money you want to make if you’re going to do all that amd it will give you you’re price you should charge.

My prices vary drastically depending on who I’m selling to. Personally id be close to $1000 of not more but I cant say for sure with ok it seeing it.

Can you do it in a day? I used to be content making $100 a day when I first started. Now I won’t even get out of bed for $100.

If you’re going to be successful youve got to figure this stuff out on you’re own. Regardless, post some pics and I’ll help you the best I can. I’m sure some others will chime in as well. But realize you’re not the first person to ask what should I charge for this particular job, and it does get old.

Basically charge what you need to charge to make what you’re trying to make happen happen.

Well, I will bite…in my area that is $800.

And, it ain’t the end of the world to make a quote that is wrong…you learn things that you will not forget.

No…let me be fair to you.

Zillow says that house is 14000sq ft…just the house.

So, go walk around it and see how long it will take you to wash it and the barn.,multiply that by your hourly rate.

Just a heads up…on this type high dollar property, there can be features that you need to make note of and exercise caution with. Examples…exotic wood door units, exterior security cameras, high end light fixtures and other electrical components…plus any number of other things…look closely at what is there and take into account the time it will take to cover or otherwise protect them. If you don’t have insurance…don’t even think about doing this job.

And, to maybe just give you an idea of time to wash…and I have no idea how this would compare to that house…I washed (by myself) an approx 15,000sq ft brick church with some vinyl siding/trim and about 2000sq ft of concrete…took me a little over 8hrs to complete. Now, there were a few things that made the job take a little longer…but this might give you an idea of a comparable square footage job.

One more suggestion…if you are pretty new to this business, you may benefit by breaking this property into parts when trying to estimate how long it will take. Estimate how long it will take on each part and add the times for all parts together to get a total for the entire project.

There can be a lot of factors on a job like this.

Lastly, remember…you can always walkaway and get more experience before taking on a job like this.

Oh, yeah…disregard the $800 price.

Just an FYI, when you post pictures, black out all of the roads, and addresses. You dont want someone to see this post then hit up “your” customer.

And then the house said “I’ll always be here for you”.

Thanks for the tips. And yes new at this.

That’s a monster house. I think @JimLuke said it best, so no point in reiterating. Good luck and make some money!
