Moving Locale Research

So me and my wife have been toying with moving away from this state for quite a while. I’m on the verge of trying to switch from my full time job to this business. We started considering maybe doing that now, and not years from now while we still have 2 full time jobs to fund it. Anyways, just wanted to see what you guys thought, what are some decent markets out there in this industry?

Our criteria right now is right-leaning (not trying to make it political, but important to us), not super hot (lived in NV, TX, etc for years, tired of it), and looking for something more in the country with some land. Not trying to move in and compete with anyone, but really appreciate some advice.

Few Right leaning States will be receptive to cats that spell their name all high falutin. TN is the only place I would want to work out love other than NC

I’ll change the spelling before I move. :joy:
I was actually seriously looking at TN, don’t know much about NC yet but it looks nice on paper.
Amy TN guys in here?

I lived in TN a couple years, not far from Nashville. Murphreesboro has more vinyl than a hundred companies could spray.

Thanks! I’ll check it out.

Someone just moved from TN to WA due to the heat. @Nashvillewash I think.

Ya that’s definitely one of my concerns, I’d visit dead of summer for sure to test the waters out.

Hi there! Yeah we just left Tn. and @Jake_Lambert is correct, Murfreesboro has vinyl everywhere! I love the west and some other stuff goin on so here we are on the Oregon/California border right on the coast (Redwoods). We sold the business but if we moved back to Murfreesboro I have no doubt I could start my business from scratch and do well the first year. Middle Tennessee checked all your boxes. Over 300 registered PW businesses but 15 or so do 80% of the work. Bleach available at 3 or 4 locations 6 days a week. Algae everywhere!

Perfect! Exactly the info I was looking for man, thanks a ton. I’ll check it out for sure. So Murfreesboro is considered middle TN?

The heat is oppressive in August like the rest of the south but its not a deal breaker. Like most conservative states Tennessee promotes small business! ☆☆☆No state income tax☆☆☆! 10% sales tax. Gas is about $1.50 right now. I’m paying $3.59 here. Happy to help with any questions you may have, I support great folks moving to Tennessee and will likely be moving back in a few years.

That’s exactly what I’m looking for, wow… I need to put these miles I have piling up to good use and go visit ASAP. I’ll definitely hit you up when I get a little closer, thanks so much!

Clarksville to Chattanooga is middle Tennessee. Thats a huge area from Kentucky to Georgia. Murfreesboro is the middle of the middle. 35-40 mins to Nashville. Depending on what your looking for you have several decent choices for towns to live. Nolensville is #1 on my list. If you want country the of towns is huge. For PW residential, between Nashville and Murfreesboro will save you travel time.

It sounds like there’s plenty of economy to support heavier commercial work too, just looked up some of those cities and there’s a lot going on. Looks great on paper! You might’ve just converted us into Tennessee’ians? Tennessee’ers?

Tennessean lol. It really is one of the great places to work in my opinion. Not pretty, its flat, rains like crazy sometimes but lots of work. Commercial work was a very important part of my income the last 2 years.

If I’m around when you come back I’ll buy you a beer. :beers:

When I lived there, it seemed like everyone I met was in a bowling league. Not sure if that’s changed in the last decade, but I remember people would look at ya weird in Smyrna if you were bowling with a house ball

Lol, wouldn’t know as I don’t bowl. Smyrna is unrecognizable compared to a decade ago.

It couldn’t have gotten any smaller, I’m guessing that Nissan(?) plant brought a lot of people?

Yeah its huge. And Nissan employees own perfect simple vinyl homes!
