Machine questions

That’s up to you. I don’t have to sell it and there’s no way I’m selling it locally.

There’s one year of warranty left on the engine and 3 on the pump. I have the original paperwork and receipt for it.

Well then that’s awsomenlet me chat with the ol lady what state are you in? For shipping reasons

I’m in Tecumseh Michigan, about 20 miles north of Ohio.

I’ll be honest, it doesn’t matter to me if you buy it or not but the offer is there. 4gpm is great to start with IF you don’t want to go balls out on the money for a 5.5 or 8.0 setup. IF I could go back and start over I wouldn’t have bought new going with 4.0, but I didn’t have any choice as nothing used was available anywhere around here and I just didn’t know where to look. I set a budget of $5k for everything including a trailer when I started. It worked, but I could have done better if used was available.

Go used for a year, bank your cash and buy all bigger the next year. It isn’t necessarily the equipment that adds up when first starting, it’s all the incidentals. Swivels, ball valves, plumbing, spare parts, guns, nozzles, etc. I’d say that just about everybody on this forum has way more money wrapped up in spares and incidentals than the average handyman/CL type washer has in all his equipment. Just a gear drive or a hose reel w/hose is more than a box store machine. Even a good sized buffer tank is about the same.

It isn’t cheap to get into, but on the plus side that keeps a lot of people away. I’d hazard a guess that just the mechanical aspect of it keeps most people away that have the great idea to go into it. Or it least it drives them out of it.

As a newbie myself I can tell you Bob and Jeff will spend as much time as you need them to on the phone, patiently answering even the “dumbest” questions! Oh, and when you order from them you stuff will be there in like two days.

Will this machine run a 20" surface cleaner with that PSI ?

I have that machine and it runs a Classic perfectly. 2500 psi is plenty of juice for resi concrete. I use two 25035’s on a surface cleaner. For some reason the manufacturer sent a pack of 6.5 nozzles, when it should have been #7’s. You won’t go wrong with that machine, but I’d jump on that price, because a month ago it was $2400. Rule of thumb is 4 inches per 1 gpm. You are above the rule of thumb. Also you might ask Jason @ KEC how much more one with electric start is. If I had to do it again, I would have gotten electric start.

You also won’t find a Classic at that price either. I actually got both from there at the same time, because they were both on sale. Great friggin’ deals!

Why is that brother? My gx always starts on the first pull as long as I didn’t leave the gas valve on overnight. Then it’s a b**ch.

Once every hundred pulls or so the rope breaks. It is a pain in the butt, especially if you just soaped something up and it is hot out. It’s not as bad if you are using an injector bypass, where you don’t have to shut off the machine to pull the injector off. Another thing that happens is the rope snaps back, and can really, really hurt. That and the fact that electric start is so much easier.

I hear ya. After snapping one I carry a spare recoil in the trailerl

About that 5.5 machine, I got a 4gpm direct drive last year to get started with (I did not know then what I know now!) I’m planning on going with a hot water 8gpm machine ASAP. Would you guys recommend waiting until I can afford that, or getting this 5.5 machine and running the two in tandem?

To clarify my last post, I would still stay with cold water until I could afford a hit water setup, as most of my work is residential.
