Machine acting weird. Where to start with diagnosis?

So I have a 4k 4gpm pressure pro. Gx390 with CAT pump.

Been In service for about 4 months.

So normally when I start the machine it runs full throttle, I hit the trigger, You can hear the machine go under load and then back to throttle when I let off.

Today when I let off the trigger the machine still revved up but still sounded like it was under somewhat of a load. The hose vibrated more than normal as well. It just isn’t running like It use to. And not over time, just from one day to the next. Also when I throttled the machine down before turning it off, it came to a fast halt with some knocking sounds. Before, it would just throttle down but still run until I turned it off.

Any suggestions?

Hose vibration, Start with the unloader. Cats built in unloader sucks. I’m not sure how to bypass it, but if you can figure it out start there and see how it runs. Sounds like the unloader is constantly unloading which would be the load it’s still under while off the trigger and pressure unloaders give you hose vibrations when they unload.

Unloader could just need to be set too. Search setting an unloader if unfamiliar.

After that: buy a better pump and unloader.

Yo give me a shout when you get a moment.

I’ve had a piece off metal stuck in the injector that shut down a machine. Guys swore it was the motor. Revving , knocking, not producing pressure. Drive to Atlanta, swapped engine while they were sleeping. Left note for them to check engine after they started it for a few minutes. Half way back and they called with same issue. Called landa guy I got to meet me at his shop to get me a new Honda. He said , injector is clogged. He was right.

I have set the unloader once when I got it. Does it need to be re-set every X hours?

I do have it running back into my buffer tank. What does it mean when its constantly unloading? my knowledge of unloaders are “set it, leave it alone”

I would like to upgrade but, this is what I’m working with. It does make me nervous when the machine starts to act up, Im not currently in a position to just buy another one, unless I have to. I would like to keep it running as long as possible.

SHOUT!

Luckily I was able to finish my work today and have the rest of the weekend to figure this out, othan than tomorrow its supposed to rain cats and dogs. Whats up?

It runs perfect when im on the trigger still, the DS injector was working fine, good pressure, still hitting 2+ story peaks. Just when i let off the trigger it goes “brggggggghhhhhh” like its halfway under load and not revving up to its top speed like normal.

It was shutting down your machine when you DS’d? Or just anytime.

I did notice my belt case vibrating like crazy as well.

Mine was trying to force water they a needle size hole and making the unloader go crazy. I was washing 400 miles away and never saw what it was actually doing. Take off the belts and see if the engine runs ok. If it does, replace the unloader and keep making money

I’m glad you mentioned belts. I bought two spare belts because you told me what size they were I think like a year ago. I can’t find them anywhere. Do you know what size they are for Diego‘s machines?

BX 50 belts

Is it possible to post a video of that sound?

Problem solved.

So I cleaned the filter which was fairly bad, started the machine, made the same sound.

Then with my finger off the trigger I turned the unloader up and down about a quarter turn, then hit the gun. After a few adjustments it started working normal again.

Squid, I believe you are right. A new unloader it is.
