Light spots where oxalic acid was applied to stucco

I just did a house that had a stucco exterior on the side facing the road. There were rust stains that ran down from behind the shutters on the window above the garage. I applied oxalic acid after the house wash and now there are light spots where the acid was applied. Good news is there are no more rust stains. Bad news now there are big, more unsightly light spot in their place.

Any suggestions are welcome.

How long did you leave it on for? What was your process of application?

Do it to the whole side or repaint.

You have to spray the whole wall with oxalic. It’s the same as concrete. It will lighten the spot you cleaned.

I used a pump sprayer from the ground and applied it. I left in on maybe five minutes then rinsed with water.

Those were my two initial ideas. Just wanted some input before I reacted. Thanks.

It will probably even out after a year or so. I always tell my customers that I can get the rust off their concrete but it will be a lot lighter than the rest. Now it’s on them if they don’t like it.

Lesson learned. Thanks again for the input.

In the future, hit the rust stains and then lighter coat, like a mist coat out a few feet ajascent to kind of blend it in.
