Large Church

So I’ve been asked to do a job for this local church. I’ll go take actual measurements tomorrow but, based off of google maps, the parking lot appears to be about 90,000 sqft. Main building is about 30,000 sqft. They are wanting an estimate for the main building, parking lot, drop off areas under awnings, and steeple.

I know pricing on the forum is kind of taboo but is there anyone that could give me a little insight? Any other help is greatly appreciated! I’m in north Louisiana if that helps at all.

Thank you all in advance!

Usually about 10 cents a sq ft for concrete.

Walk around the building and figure how long it would take you to do each wall, tally up the cost.

Will you need a lift/boom?

Make sure your insurance is good

Thanks!!

10¢ per sqft is what I’ve been getting but I was thinking since it was so much and commercial I should do a little less?

I will definitely need a boom.

I domt know what your market is like but I wouldn’t do less than 10 cents. Youre on the right track with the boom lift. Make sure it jas a knuckle. That church is seriously massive and that steeple, depending on how dirty it is is going to require some serious work. As far as that parking lot goes, if you don’t already have them, get yourself a couple BIG surface cleaners. And while youre at it get a permit to use the fire hydrant and rinse with a fire hose. It will save you hours.

I’d be at .12/ft on concrete and then on building, figure out how long going to take you , plus cost of lift. Would want to be at around at least $150/hr. Some parts going to be pretty quick and others slow on it. Hard to tell how dirty from pics. If you don’t already own an 8gpm machine here’s a good job to get one on. Agree with @Clean1 on surface cleaner and water.

There is a plug in at the back right side of the building that I could use. Rinsing with a fire hose is gonna be pretty difficult to do I would think. It’s gonna take several sections of 2-3/4 to make it across the parking lot. I could spray as far as I could reach with a couple sections and rinse the rest with my washer I guess?

Honestly the building itself isn’t that dirty. It has skme white stucco trim around it that is obviously dirty when you look at in person and of course the steeple.

I do have an 8gpm 3500psi machine but I only have one 28” big guy surface cleaner. Think I should buy a new one or just let mine do it this time and buy another one later? And if I should buy one, do y’all have a recommendation? I did see one mounted to the deck of a lawn mower lol :joy::joy::joy:

Also, I went and got actual measurements today. The parking lot will be about 130k sqft. Building is about 43k.

Jeez that’s a lot of ground to cover. Months ago I bid on cleaning the entire exterior of a church I had attended since I was a child. My bid was about $3k for almost 30,000 sq ft concrete. The board called me laughing and said they only had enough money in the budget to do the bits in front of the doors. Ended up being about $500 of work but I was a bit flabbergasted at they only had that much to budget or that they expected me to say I’d do the whole church for a couple hundred bones.

lol yeah. That’s definitely not even close to being enough. I washed my church just to be a blessing to them (and to learn some) but this is a little too big for all that lol. Hopefully I will hear something by the middle of the week or so next week. Honestly, I would be just fine if they just wanted the parking lot and steeple done… gonna be a lot of work lol

I would at least think about getting at least a 36" maxima or even a Mondo if you get the bid.

There’s decommissioned fire hose on eBay all the time.

It’s not really taboo.

But it’s annoying if you’re incompetent

And kinda irrelevant if you’re competent but in a wildly different regional market

I understand that. I was just looking for a starting point on such a large job. I didn’t know if I should alter my pricing any based on the amount of work needed to be done since it is my first.

I looked at the mondo last night… that thing is a beast!

Yeah I’m thinking the department I work for has some failed hose I could probably get. There may even be a 2-1/2 to 1-3/4 adaptor laying around.

Hey did you ever get the job? And if so what did you use, and hours on the job?

Didn’t get it. I guess they balked at the price lol. Been super busy with oilfield stuff anyway. But hopefully I can do that before too long.
