Is this true?

I’ve been doing some research in soft washing a house. Time and again I see the professionals recommend applying SH from the bottom up. I am not negating this - but my question is… Why is this the case? Why is this true?

I’ve pressure washed for a different industry and it’s always been more economical for me to rinse top to bottom, apply SH top to bottom, then rinse again top to bottom.

It is faster to soap from top to bottom. I believe the only thing you really need to go from bottom to top is shake cedar siding.

So you recommend applying SH top to bottom? Because this makes more sense to in my mind.

You apply it bottom to top because if you dont the run off from the top treats the bottom twice. The theory is that you get a more consistent application because of run down. I’m sure I’m not explaining it very well

I absolutely recommend tip to bottom on vinyl or brick or light colored paints.

I don’t recommend on cedar siding but mainly because that’s what I’ve read and never washed it. I also don’t recommend washing dark painted houses.

Okay I appreciate that!

–Application is more consistent.

I could work with that. Thanks.

It really doesn’t matter on vinyl or brick. But if you would like to apply chemicals slower go right in ahead and soap from bottom to top.

So from your experience you’ve gotten good, consistent results with top to bottom? Awesome. I’m all about getting in and out as fast, yet as effective as possible.

Yes and I also don’t prewet anything but wood for cleaning and plants. It just dilutes your solution hitting the house. I guess I’m super hot days on the sunny side I will spray some water to cool down the windows

It doesn’t take anymore time to do it from the bottom to the top. Please explain why it would take longer.

Why dont you wash dark painted houses what’s the big deal

Never thought of that but it makes sense. I have also heard that the run off will cause streaks. Just like when you clean a wall before painting. From bottom to top.

It’s kinda hard to put in writing why i believe it’s faster.

Bottom to top wastes time and chems. A guy that no longer washes named Mike K started a lot of folks doing it that way for some reason.

There he said it. I guess it’s not that complicated

We will have to agree to disagree on that one. It’s the same square footage one way or the other how does it waste time. Plus you dont have run down if you are using shooter tips. Not such a big deal if its vynil but anyother coating or material it matters especially if you dont pre wet. Do it the same way every time leaves less room for mistakes

Ya darn sure wanna DS a aluminum trailer with my #1 chemical from bottom to top.

I bet it’s the same concept. So hypothetically speaking if you did DS from top to bottom the tanker would streak or you will ruin the paint. Or scare or etch the aluminum

By the way what’s your fav chem?
