I am with travelers
My suggestion:
Go to JD Walters website and read their blog posts on recent claims made. Borrow some of those scenarios and present them as hypotheticals to your agent. Ask him, “if [hypothetical…] happens, am I covered?”
Then ask for his answer in writing. If he can’t put it in writing, then I would look elsewhere for coverage, or see what endorsements could be added to your policy so that you are covered.
It’s hard for agents to put guarantees in writing concerning claims as there are many variables. An agents job is to present the policy forms, exclusions and coverage’s.
As a customer how do we insure we are getting the coverage we need? Often the contract doesn’t mean much to us.
Great question.
1-Be truthful and upfront with your broker.
2-Review the exclusions on your quote
3- Ask questions.
4- Always buy “Special Form”
5- Never buy a policy from a company who is not A rated.
6-use referral sources within the business when choosing a broker.
7- If a broker charges a service fee, walk away (unless it’s for workers comp)
For example , I also specialize in the automotive industry.
I have 500+ repair shops/ body shops.
I can’t fix a car to save my life, but I can insure your shop due to my expertise
Any questions, feel free to reach out to me.
Good morning and hope that everyone has a successful week
