Injector not pulling much

I have a 5.5 belt drive & the down stream injector isn’t pulling very much. I did 2 tests with a 50’ pressure hose to the gun using the black soap tip. The first time it pulled 13.5 oz per minute & the second time it did 17 ozs. Is this a problem or should I just mix accordingly? I am a newbie & searched but want to get this right so I don’t do any damage. Thanks for any advice.

What injector exactly are you using and the 17oz is from what method?

The injector says 2.1 on it. I put the draw tube in a bucket of water & used the the gun for a bit to fill the tube so no air. Then put it in a container with a known quantity of water in it and stayed on the trigger for 1 minute. Then measured the amount of water left in container & subtracted from the amount I started with.

We also don’t know what the real gpm is of your 5.5 unit. The easy way is measure how much your DSI pulls while your PWer shoots a set amount (5gal, 2 gal, whatever). Then you can figure what your ratio is (12 to 1 or whatever).

That makes sense. Can I just pull the trigger & shoot into a bucket without a nozzle to see the real gpm?

Might be better with a nozzle? But either one would work I think.

Sounds a bit weak to me. Should pull at least 40 oz or so in 1 minute (that would be roughly 18:1 draw ratio)

Do you have another injector you could test? Maybe try a 1.8?

What gun are you using? Is it rated for at least 12gpm?

You could also do another test with no gun on the line, to see if the gun or the spray tip is causing some restriction.

Not sure what kind of gun but it says 9 gpm & the wand says 10.5 gpm.

I would try a GP High Draw 1.8. A size smaller will usually pull more mix.

I cleaned some debris & got 20 oz / min. I will try a smaller injector. Thanks for the help.
