How to prevent this?

my best guess is, drain from the nearby downspout.
who would know that…

Was this after a roof wash?

I have sprayed water down the spout before just to figure out where they drain. You never know.

yep…

I guess you don’t do that a lot anymore? It sounds like a lot of additional work if just to prevent once-in-a-million-times accident…

Best way I found to quit paying for dead vegetation was to quit doing roofs

I’d be interested in seeing where the water from that downspout ends up.
It looks like it would drain further out maybe broken section underneath the ground.

On gutters going into the ground I always unfasten the section closest to the grown and run the 10 mil gutter bags from that.

No most have a small opening or a crack where the gutter meets the ground. I already have the gun with me to water down so ill give it a quick check. I dont do this to every house. Just when im concerned about where a gutter is running.

Not bagging gutters, tyveking plants isn’t a one time occurence.
Just like painting, pretty much everything else in life, PROPPER prep work = a good job.

Or just take necessary precautions.
My partner has it down pretty good. Rarely get any run off. I’m on the ground anyways keeping everything wet just because.
A light rain would be only thing to get us in trouble. I watch the weather. If there is ANY chance of a light rain I explain the whole thing to the customer and tell them they might want to spray some water around if we get a light rain in next 3-4 days.
I’m in a Hillbilly area thank god and most people are fine with helping out.

Secret to no run off is doing bottom 6ft of roof first to create a buffer.
Then back up top and start bringing the wash down into the 6ft buffer. Soon as it touches the buffer area your done. Nothing should ever get anywhere near a gutter or an edge that way. Works great for us!

Ive seen a few run straight to their plants to water them i guess and i have seen some that run to the middle of thier lawn that lrt water out through these caps. Every one i have seen with the caps are always clogged up.

And have seen catch basins with gutters running through them for some reason.

This last one was run to the flowerbeds as well. Then the back half ran all the way back to the woods on the end of the property.

Last picture the bag is not put on yet. I’m just “flushing”

This is my gutter tool.
I always carry 1/4 white gutter screws and a bit. If it looks sketchy I just find a good section to bag and remove.

Also not sure what surfactant you guys use but a month ago I switched to Roof Snot after using Cling On for a year.
Roof Snot holds your mix WAAAAYYY better then Cling on and you need half as much.

After this 5er of Snot is gone I’d like to try Slo Mo just to see how it measures up.

I can tell you that Roof Snot has made a Big difference!

To Those guys using Gain. I did that when I first started out. Id just dump a whole gallon in a 50 gallon roof mix. Did it work? Yes. Did it hold my mix in place like Cling On and Roof Snot?
NOT EVEN CLOSE!

I really liked Cling On until I tried Roof Snot. Now Cling On seems really watered down. I swear when I bought it last year it was way thicker. I don’t know.

I pay a little extra for the snotmanade no real difference other than smell. Slo mo is good stuff too but i prefer snotmanade because of its smell

I seen that was only difference. Was too cheap to pay for the smell lol. I actually got a free bottle of a lemon scent stuff from Southside. Haven’t tried it. Smells good in the bottle tho. Its Prob what they add to the menade.

That lemon scent is probably the same stuff @Sharpe uses in his roof mix. He says it only takes like 4 oz per 65 gallons of mix to cover the sh smell. I’ve been meaning to order some. I used a bottle of scent from a box of samples I got from Horizon on a roof I did last week. I dumped it into 60 gallons of mix. It really worked well as far as covering up the sh smell. I think it was floral or something like that. It smelled good and, almost completely covered the sh smell, but I think I like lemon better. I still have a couple other fragrance samples to try.

Yup it’s from southside

I still have a couple scents left from them as well. Haven’t really bothered to use em since every surfactant I’ve used has a scent already.

They’ve been sitting in the garage for quite awhile and, since Cling On doesn’t have any scent added in, I decided to grab a bottle and give it a try. It was pretty strong so probably could’ve used half the bottle. I was surprised at how well it worked. I think someone said they want like $125 per gallon so probably better off sticking to the lemon scent from Southside. I think Rick said it’s like $76 a gallon.
