How to decline

Just got done with a quote and the lady was just so rude and totally unpleasant. It was a decent amount of money but she has bad review written all over her.

If she calls back and wants me to do the work, how do I politely tell her no without getting a bad review?

Pass her off to another company. You can’t get a bad review if you never did any work.

I wouldn’t consider putting another company in that position lol. Just save the number and ignore the call or tell her you are booked for the season.

I think it’s incredibly unlikely that someone leaves you a negative review for refusing a job.

I have pages of these on my phone. DNA is do not answer

I have to keep adding an a to the end of each entry

Don’t answer when she calls back. You’ll do it dozens of times a year. Best advice you’ll get on this forum is Walk. It will save you from so many head aches.

I have no compunction about ignoring their call…not worth it to get involved with them. Also, if they are rude to me up front, I politely decline without even giving a quote…just tell them someone else would be better suited for the job than I am…and that would not be a lie.

As said up thread…IBS gives great advice with the “walk away”…for the most part, it is never the wrong thing to do.

Also, don’t go through your life being scared of a bad review…it ain’t the end of the world.

Wow thanks for all the great advice, I really appreciate it!

Store her name with the $ sign. If she calls back answer refer her to Home Adviser sounds like a good lead for someone :grinning: Just not someone u know!

I call it the “Black List” they get blocked on my phone.

Also, I’ve done jobs that I wish never to go back to usually because they where rude/unfair/crazy those get blocked also, I move on and look for pleasant people to work for…

If you are new, do understand not everyone that calls is meant to be your coustomer… Some you have to just walk away from

Ditto. If an unreasonable person leaves a negative review, most reasonable people will see through it. And other unreasonable people will be dissuaded from calling.

I’ve been messing around washing for 21 years. To the best of my knowledge, I only have two reviews. When people tell me they are going to leave me a good review or tag me in some social media thingy, I ask them not to. The internet and reviews are no way to build a business.

Maybe where you live

Again, your opinion, not fact.

It’s 2019 William! Get with the times… :joy:
Jk but unfortunately pretty much everyone (even the Bing users I’d assume…lol) use Google to search for services and look at reviews before choosing a who to call.

Exactly. This is 2019, not 1988.

No need to conform to the year if you don’t have to. We would all be better off without the internet.

I stay busy and no one finds me in the internet. I mark every ad that comes across my Facebook as spam. Our family tries to avoid purchasing anything that is advertised excessively. Generally, the more a product is advertised, the less quality it has.

You have to remember IBS, you are a fully matured company. Those of us still needing to put food and the ocasional cheerwine on the table have to use every tool in the arsenal. The end goal is to be where you’re at. Just not there yet
