How long for mix?

How long should you leave your mix in the roof before rinsing it off and is it ok to use the pressure washer to rinse off?

If you use the search function and read… and read some more you will find your answer…for me I don’t rinse roofs at all. Spray and walk away and let Mother Nature do the rest. Research will tell you that it’s not a good idea to use a pressure washer. You take years off the life

If you decide that rinsing the roof is the way you want to go (we rinse) then you will technically rinse with a pressure washer. The pressure washer will deliver water to your gun, but the large tips will reduce the pressure down to almost garden hose pressure. We usually soap one side then follow behind it with rinsing that side. But I guess it would depend on the size of the roof.

Do your customers ever seem disappointed…I have yet to do my first roof cleaning and I want to make a good impression every time. Spray it and leave it seems like the best option, but how do the customers view it?

It’s all about setting the customer’s expectations where they need to be. We use pictures of homes before and after the cleaning and then some after the rain pics. Most roofs in my area look 95% or better the day we spray. Find a few roofs to do for friends or family to practice and build your confidence.

Exactly! I sell by phone so I use words to paint those pictures. Tell the folks what they are going to experience. They will know what to expect and the job will be considered a success when the get what you promised them.

Great advice. Thanks guys!

How do you deal with the runoff and not have plant damage when you rinse? I’ve always been curious about how the guys that rinse deal with that. Also, what’s your average time been before the gm comes back for you? (Not wanting to start any debates over method… Just genuinely curious.)

I educate the customer on the different processes and let them decide. I inform them what my service entails and what they can expect and they usually are extremely happy after talking with me after I have built up their confidence in my services. Spray and walk away method ISNT for everyone but for some it’s the only way, and those are my customers. I give a 2 year warranty and that usually helps with the convincing.

Thanks for the help. I love the idea of a warranty, that should really help close sales. I’ll try that in the spring!
