Horizontal tank filling

Found this last night while looking up drilling speeds for different materials. Pretty interesting if you have a horizontal tank without marks or 55 gallon drum laid sideways and have to mark it.

Isn’t that just the best book in the world for random tidbits and useful things men should know?

Yes. It will be part of my regular gift giving repertoire for that reason.

I think manly men should have this book I bought in 2004, have read twice, and done nothing about it so I can live vicariously through actual manly men.

I’ve been talking about building a boat with my boys. I helped my grandpa build one in the mid 70’s. Plywood that he bent in a jig over the cast iron cauldron we dipped hogs in at killings. Melted tar poured in the bottom with pine straw on top. about 6 feet long and a couple of feet wide. Went at night with it to set cat hooks. Couldn’t go in the day time because that tar would get hot and stick to your feet lol. He ran an axle thru the back with lawnmower wheels on it so he could roll it from the truck bed into the water. Paddle was an old lard paddle. Good times.

Kentucky Afield has a pretty cool plywood boat video that can be done in an afternoon.

If you wanna see incredible though. Salt & Tar. It’s on YouTube. It’s a 20-something husband and wife who are building a 30 foot sailboat and it’s incredible. They live on next to nothing. Their life is the boat.

The just had it trailered off the blocks a couple days ago according to their blog.

I’ll look that up. Completely unrelated, but roast yard buzzard and sausage balks for supper cause I’m cooking tonight

Not much on yard birds, anymore…but I do love me some sausage.

I like your menu.

Notice i got mt sausage and hunk of chicken already. After i holler for my boys chaos will ensue and a minute later all the food will be gone. My wife ignores us tonight with her nose in a book and a jar of pickled herring… Never kiss a Swede directly after a meal.

Notice he didn’t post this picture at 3pm when I could have easily made it to his house for dinner by 7. Where’s the love? LOL

I’ll cook more. Or did you want fish in a jar with pearl onions?

@Racer if you feel like driving 21 hours I have a two person shop hammock and beer.

No funny business.

Only if they taste like sardines and saltines.

That doesn’t look like a two person hammock, yet you didn’t say “no funny business.” I’m confused.

This time last year I came back from WV after camping with Bob from pressuretek and found 6 inches of mud in my shop and the results of a few feet of water.
