Help - does this layout look right?

Have a VERY basic layout for the boxtruck right now. Does this look “do-able”? Is anything standing out to you guys why it won’t work? Or, it would be better another way?

The thing behind the power washer is an access door that I will be installing in the side of the boxtruck (and another on the passenger side of the truck). It is just there for a visual. I’m thinking it is correctly positioned left to right, but not up and down (it will be installed higher - it’s just laying on the floor now).

I have to run right now, but I wanted to get this out to you guys ASAP. I plan to cut the access doors tomorrow, so all the input I receive is greatly appreciated. I will upload additional pics later tonight.

My first call out would be move the washer closer to the end. Other wise you have to climb in every time to start the machine and shut it off.

With an access door he doesn’t need to be inside the truck to start it

Then again, I’m tall and like hiring tall guys with looking arms lol

Yes, I watch this (and your other videos) on repeat. I swear I see something new every time even though I have probably viewed them each 50 times.

I don’t disagree with you. However, if you look near the floor, that is a little knockout for fueling the truck. The plan is to set the frame of the access door right next to it. Also, the access doors will allow me to start the engine, vent the exhaust, and provide a little fresh air inside the truck.

That empty space between the hose reels (there will actually be two - stacked) and the PWer won’t actually be empty. I’m thinking either fuel tank for PWer or DS tank. Just got back from kids swim lessons and now it’s time for dinner. Later, I plan to post additional pics with these options drawn in along with draw in plumbing.

Make a template with cardboard or something for the bolt pattern on the reels. If you ever mount another one anywhere down the road it will make your life much easier. Rubber feet under the skid.

Great idea with the template, and I do plan to mirror the setup on the passenger side ASAP. I want one of those sweet 8gpm Honda/Udor that you are always posting from landanc.com. I’ve seriously considered making the trip from South Jersey to NC just to get it - I can’t find anything near me that is even close to that whole package.

And yes, I do have the rubber feet and I will be using them - I just don’t have them underneath yet.

Ok, hopefully not too late getting back to the forum…

So, to update…

  1. There will be 2 stacked hose reels on the back at the (previously posted) pictured location - meeting with fabricator tomorrow to get a couple prices.
  2. When I mount the PWer it will have the rubber feet
  3. I’m thinking of swapping out the joined 1"x4" boards attached to the wall for full length 2"x6" - does this seem extreme? I like the separation from the wall for strapping stuff at different location points. I like the idea of a beefier 2by to be able to mount… whatever to the walls.
  4. I will attach a sample plumbing picture below. I will have a 2" cam lock (Banjo Female Coupler 2 x 2 Inch Male NPT Thread | 201B | Banjo | Barndoor Ag) from the IBC to the pictured PVC. Also, there will be a filter before it gets to the PWer
  5. I have a couple options (that I thought of - I’m sure there are many more) for my mix and gas tanks. I have included pictures of those options as well.

Thoughts from everyone greatly appreciated.

I know I left some guys out and I’m sorry - maybe you will stumble upon this thread anyway.

Don’t forget engine and pump oil & filter changes, make sure you access door allows for that. Also, minor maintenance, like carb hour meter and ignition or whatever.
If you do residential, perhaps a curbside hose reels?

I could only mention 10 people at once, so I had to cut and paste. Guys, please see above

I’ll double check filter changes, thank you, but oil changes will be done with “quick drain” hoses on the inside of the box truck.

I thought about curbside hose reels, but I want to mirror the setup on the other side ASAP. After many hours of thought, I have decided to run all hose reels out the back. I was torn between @Innocentbystander theory and @Racer & @squidskc theory. The fireman ended up winning this one, not the veteran (sorry Brodie. And sorry IBS if you fall into both categories - I’m not sure I remember reading that about you) EDIT: I think it should read veteranS - sorry Rick.

Two safety cones, then. A lot of driving under the text device going on…

Yes, cones are a must. But thanks for pointing out.

I’d definitely go with option 2 so you can fill the gas tank at the pump without having to get in.

The ds tank you can fill with a 12v pump and a 10-12 poly hose with a banjo fitting.

So here’s the thing with the gas tank… I live in NJ and everything is full serve - state law. And, state law says that portable gas tanks have to be taken out of the vehicle and placed on the ground to fill up. I have seen countless arguments between driver and attendant on this issue. So, with this in mind, how hard is it to disconnect one of those 6 gallon tanks, take out of truck to fill up, and then reconnect when done filling? Can you put QCs on the fuel line? Or, I can “fill up” my 6 gallon tank with a 5 gallon portable tank :joy:

12v pump is in my very near future - it’s vital for the roof washing service

Can you put an aluminum strap over it, bolt it down, and call it permanent?

Get a bigger aluminum or plastic tank anyway. You’ll hate that 6 gal one that comes with it. Won’t even get a full day out of it if you’re working.

X2 I usually get a day out of it but I’m filling it from a gas can when I get home.
