Please excuse my ignorance but if I have an eight gpm pressure washer and a 100 gallon tank does that mean that I’m going to only be able to use it for a little over 10 minutes?

Yea wit out an, extra water supply

you should have a water supply hose that is hooked up to the house that will be filling your buffer tank. You should be fine. If you were to run the machine just off the buffer tank with no supply hose from the house, and you were on the trigger the whole time you would run out pretty quicky
Okay. Yeah, I thought the whole point of the tank was to not use the customers water. Lol

No, you use the customers water to keep the buffer tank from running empty. Most guys can’t be running around with 1,500 gallons of water on their trucks
It to much weight and DOT will tear you a new asshole with fines if you get an accident

Does anyone know how many gallons they normally use for a housewash or roof cleaning?
I do all flat surface I may not be no help to you

Depends on the house size and condition and the gpm’s you use. Personally I’m still rocking 4gpm and haven’t set up a trailer with buffer yet. The theory is to keep the buffer tank partially filled so that when you connect to the customers supply (approx 5-6gpm) the tank will fill at that 5-6 rate as you remove 5.5, 8, 10 or 12 gpm from it. There just isn’t enough flow from the spigot alone to supply the higher gpm machines… Does that make sense?
I have customers that have misconceptions about that very same concept. They want me to bring my own water because they say theirs is too expensive… I explain to them that even if the water in those tanks was to replace their water supply, they’d still have to pay (me) for the water.

@ Allclean what type of machine you have
Gator wash LLC
Right now I’m working with (2) 3500psi 4gpm direct drive units. I am planning an upgrade but for now, with this machine I can produce over a grand a day by myself. I know it doesn’t sound like much to some on here but I am a beginner and that thrills me!! Once I move to 8 gpm with a helper, I’ll have to put lightning bolts on my boots.

Sorry to post an off topic question on your topic IWS.
Allclean; are you doing a grand per day on residential alone? That’s pretty good money with the low overhead you have.

Yea it is

Not consistently as I am still operating 2 businesses at this time. I am working to phase out my handyman business so I’m still part time in this field. My overhead isn’t low simply because I haven’t purchased a 10K rig. There are still chemicals, parts, repairs, advertising, advertising, advertising, lol.
I am investing heavily in gaining exposure right now. To me, that will be the better path to prosperity than high dollar equipment at this time. I can compete with any cleaner in the residential arena with my current setup. Commercial, not so much.

AllCleanPowerWashing is your unit a hot or cold?
Both of my direct drives are cold. I don’t need hot for residential.

I’m assuming you’re using the cold units for the driveway as well? I only ask for procedural purposes. I used my cold 2.5 2700 for a driveway and brick porch so I know it can be done.
Yes sir, my 4 gpm’s, whisper wash classic and chemical packages make short work of them. I probably spend the most time just rinsing.

Are you linking them together for 8 GPM? If not, you should, rinsing is tedious but with my 8 it’s soooo fast now
