First PW Trailer set up - any OMG don't do thats are greatly appreciated!

Thanks. Appreciate the guidance.

I had a local fabricator build me a plate that mounts to the top rail of my trailer and over my fender to mount my hose reels to. It has lower supports that helps support the weight. Cost me about $100 for fab and powder coating. Works well and helps distribute the weight rather than them both being stacked on the back.

Thanks! Works well for me and well worth the $100 it cost to have it built. He CNC’ed it and I have plenty of mounting holes so I can move the reels around to all kinds of different places if need by. Plus it cut down on the weight of the plate. I’m happy with it.

Also, for hanging my wands on the back gate I bought a salt water fishing rod holder from my local store. Holds three rods and just so happens to hold three wands very well too. I have a 4’ that doesn’t fit, but my three shorter ones fit nicely. And I bought some Velcro straps with carabiners attached that I am using to hang my hoses on the back gate. Below are some examples. Not the exact ones I have, but gives you an idea.

wow that is sexy… my bf from childhood is married to a guy that makes specialized racing motorcycle parts… will be employing his services I think!

thanks I really like those rod holders! like the organization. I am going to need to dial in hyper org with this little foot print and weight restriction…

About to order my first hannay reel for my trailer setup (5x8). That is a great idea on the mounting you had done. A question about your hose connection on your reels… Do you use quick connects or 3/8" MPT Thread connections? I have heard that too many quick connections can mess with your soap suction.

I think you’re on the right track. If you do end up doing stacked reels in the back I think you’ll end up wanting to move the pressure washer forward some or back to the front like Alex recommended. I bet a single reel with 200’ of 3/8" hose weighs every bit of 40-50 lbs.

Turns out the Hannay 1520-17-18 RG H5M is 50 lbs on its own… Dang… X 2 plus stack frame and hose… Okay plan C as the hose feels are basically as heavy as the PW…

I don’t use any quick connects on my reels. Its all 3/8” MPT thread on the pressure side, and 1/2” to garden hose on the inlet reel. Not sure what effect they would have on your draw, but I just wanted to eliminate as many quick connects as I could. You have to be a little creative when laying out a smaller trailer, but it can be done. Just takes time and some creativity.

You might (ok, probably) want to at least have quick connects on your downstream injector, so you can swap it out easily when it fails.

Is your chem injector just before the hose reel? I know many use quick connects on their chem injector for easy swap out for when it fails. I haven’t decided what I want to do yet.

I have the 1526-17-18 which is an 18" reel with 200’ of 3/8" and I don’t think it’s over 50 lbs and that’s including the hose. I could be wrong though.

That’s how mine is and I love it!

Haha! Yea, my injector is quick connects! But no quick connects attaching hose to my reels, EXCEPT my injector. Sorry for the confusion there.

I am now seeing 39 or 40 lbs. Still 80 plus stacking frame and hoses…much heavier than I thought…

I just weighed mine. With 200’ of 3/8" it weighs 45 lbs.

Thanks
