First Job Tips

Hey guys so I have my first job that isn’t friends and family coming up next week. A couple of things: the house has some mold/mildew under the gutters but not much on the home. It was fairly oxidized and I wanted to see if the best thing to do would be just wash it like normal with about 1% mix but stand back a good bit and use as little pressure as possible. It also had red staining around the bottom so I just ordered some f9 eflo from their store. Is that the best way to go? And lastly there was some red-ish dust/dirt on the shutters that came off like oxidation would. I know this is all fairly basic stuff, so I appreciate any input for a newbie.

What kind of tips you using? Shouldnt be any problems of not hammering away and drawing on the siding with wrong stuff.

I’m using the 5-6 gpm jrod kit from pressuretek, ended up having to order some smaller rinse tips(#10) though cause the ones that came in the kit still pull chemical.

Your good then… use same tips to soap and rinse on small house, if tall peaks then use higher shooting tips.

Okay great thanks! Any idea what the red dust could be?

The red dust is clay. Muriatic acid will take care of it. Walk away from this job. The headache is will avoid will make up for the lost money. That much chalking is not what you need for your first paying job

Hey man, congrats on your first job. Did mine this year too.

We have a lot of oxidation here. It looks like thats pretty bad. You may have to do some scrubbing with a brush to get it off. You would want to include that in your price or let the owners know the oxidized side may not look perfect. If you stay back and don’t use much pressure you may be ok.

I would use more SH for sure. 1% won’t do much.

Good luck

Do not use the #10 tips to rinse. Just pull the hose out of the chemical and use your soap tips to rinse

Don’t try and remove the oxidation. It’s too much for your first job and usually not cost effective anyway. Wash the house with low pressure using your mix. You’ll be fine. I wash plenty of houses with a lot more oxidation than that. It the siding was a dark color, like blue or green, I would be a little more concerned.
