First job suggestions - cement on patio

So I’ve got my first job coming up in a week… Just wanted to double check a few things before going out there if I’ve missed out anything u guys could guide me if ya can pls…

A mates patio, got some cement on the floor whilst cementing his little retainer wall…

I’m guessing the plan of attack would be clean with surface cleaner, and then apply a cleaner (not sure which kind, if u guys cud help with that please) that will remove cement…

Or will just plain surface cleaning would do the job?

On the left side is before he made a mess of things, and the right side is the mess (white stuff on patio floor)

Any suggestions on how to tackle this would be appreciated… As it’s my first job I’m not even sure what and how my mix is gonna be with a cement removing agent etc…

That’s one of those walk away jobs

@jitsbhikha you could possibly just use a white tip to get off the cement residue. I did a similar job last week and that’s what I did. I went back the next day after they dried out and used a mild soap to clean off the dried residue that stayed after cleaning.

Yeah, you’re likely looking at pressure. Depending on the make-up of the “cement” you might be able to use NMD80 on it. That’s formulated for grout from what I know about it. If/where you can get that over there, I have no idea…

@Innocentbystander is dead on if you’re looking at this as a paying “job”. If it’s “helping out a friend for the experience”, then maybe entertain it…

Thanks all your replies… Well at least y’all didn’t say my process of attack was bull… Haha…

I guess I’ll only know how hard and thick the cement is embedded onto the pavers when I get there…

I’ll send an update… Hopefully it goes well…

On a side note of suggestions… Im purchasing SH for the first time and was wondering why there would be such a price difference between these 2 SH’s:

One is super duper ultra premium and the other is just SH?

BTW we pay about $3.75USD a gallon here in the States. Sorry.

I feel bad paying $2.54 a gallon with the new price increase

Ok cool so ill just get the cheaper one lol!!! it says save 25 bucks now so may as well just get it!!

Mate everything is Australia is freaking expensive compared to the states!! Or rather it just sounds more exe… its kinda all relative at the end of the day after conversion rates… Our import taxes are ridiculous tho!!

Is there any simple information of ratio mixing of SH on this forum that you could swing me a link… Im trying to get my head around how much SH to mix with water and detergent. Just keep in mind in only using a Xjet atm, so just what is a rule of thumb for mixing?

Could you say in a 20 Litre bucket, if I mix 2 litres of SH and 18 Litres of water and 50 ml of sufactant, will that be a good start mix?

Skip the xjet, downstream your housewashes. I maybe used mine a grand total of three times the past four years, and that was the first few months. Use straight 12% and a little surfactant, it’ll come out about 1% with a smaller machine.

I could skip the xjet but thats all i have as a setup atm… So im kinda stuck until i get my downstreaming setup going!!!

There’s no ‘setup’, you just get an injector, jrod and small tank or even a 5 gallon carboy.

So finally did it boys… (hope u all having a good weekend)…
First job outta the way… But with a few hiccups as expected…

What I do need advise on is why didn’t a few, or rather a lot of these black spots not come out?

It was a mates place that didn’t really care about it all coming out but I rekon in a few weeks ill go back and clear it up, if not for him but for my own practice…

So if you see in this pic below we have a fair bit of the black dirt still stuck in there…

Now he rekons its sandstone but I thought it was concrete… So we’re both not sure…

I did use about 2 litres of 12.5 SH mixed with about 5 litres of water… We let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes…
Is that solution too weak? Or did we leave it for too little time…

Also keep in mind the dirt was so tough and thick on there…

I treated it with SH first then used the surface cleaner…
Should I have gone over with the surface cleaner then treat it with SH and then go over it again?

Lastly, I went over there tonight after it fully dried and he showed me a ■■■■ load of white stuff on the surface… We’re not sure if that’s from the pressure washing or is it something that was lying there in the past… Because we couldn’t really see anything whilst it was wet until today… He’ll send me pictures of this white stuff that’s patchy everywhere on the concrete…

I’d love all your guys feedback on the job… Would really really be appreciated…

OK so he sent me a picture of the white stains… Some help would be great as we’re both not sure what this is… It’s patchy everywhere
