Field Repairs

I was looking specifically for field repairs of a high pressure hose and couldn’t find anything. Only thing I saw was to have a repair kit on hand. I tried to find one on Pressure Tek but didn’t see anything.

Where can I find this kit? Actual name so I know what to search for.
How do you cut your lines in the field to attach the kit?
Is it worth getting or should I just have 150’ of extra 2 wire hose with me?

What are some other good tips on field repairs that you all have come across.

I had my feed line from my tank to my machine spring a leak. I threw some flex tape on it to slow the leak till I could get thru the job. I went and bought 25 feet of 3/8" hose and cut it in 12 feet sections. But, my dumbass forgot to install it when I went out on my next job. So I had to repair it in the field when I realized I was leaking like a sieve.

I also keep O-Rings on hand at all times. Have had to replace O-Rings with a small eyeglass screwdriver.

My 3 way poly valve broke on me today. So my son had to keep pulling the lines off and replacing with my other soap on the one side that was left in the open position. So if you use these (@Hotshot) make sure you are not a dumbass like me and have an extra laying around.

I’ve never had to use one but probably work to finish up a job. I wouldn’t rely on it as a permanent repair.

The 3 way poly valves last me about 2 months, I’ve got 4 on standby at all times, @$15 it’s worth it. I also have been buying 150’ of 1 wire good year high pressure hose
From pressure Tek on experiment , way cheaper and lighter ,got 2 extra rolls on each rig @ all times. I also have 2, GP high draws on standby for each rig. I myself would rather have the little stuff ready to go , plug and play on site ,than doing repairs on the job. Have all your extra stuff ready to go with QC fittings installed as well. It’s to costly imo to do repairs on sight with a 2 man crew standing around looking at dirty trucks. Get it all fixed at the shop by yourself … also get a o ring pick from PT ,it’s like 3 bucks. Eye glass screw drive is a good idea for putting knew vitons in :+1:.My advice for what it worth is to have at least 2 of everything on the rig …But your showing your age ole man on the eye glass screw driver.:joy:

2.5’s. Lol

I believe if you cover your 3 way from the sun ,it will last longer. I saw @Innocentbystander had it fashioned to a AC switch box with a cover on here somewhere ,mine always breaks the same way as yours

I’ve been getting JBG hose. I’m in Charlotte the next two weeks and my wife sent me this a couple of hours ago. I put the shipping address as the billing address and the delivered a pallet of hose to the house instead of the shop. Wife can’t get in the garage lol. $5 plastic electrical outlet box for three way or call MVP. Services in Raleigh and get one of the fancy stainless boxes he custom makes. They are awesome

Hmm. Must be nice. My wife would have driven smooth over that thing and wondered what she hit. Such a great woman but not the most amazing driver…

Also for Christmas, ask for bungee cords, rachet straps,a good voltage tester, zip ties, liquid electrical tape, gorilla tape, tef tape, wire nuts, sea foam, howels diesel fuel treatment, and good battery opp power tools.

She cut the bands, loaded 1500 ft of hose in her minivan and took it to the shop

Goals, trying to build that account to buy a bunch of repair parts to have just in case. I am waiting on my picks and injectors to arrive and two 3 way poly ball valves. I already have 2 QC’s on standby right now as well as 10-15 O-Rings in both sizes.

I’d be interested in the 1 wire review, maybe I’ll get some just as a back up for the trailer now.

Unless your running hot water I’d stick with one wire

I thought the 1 wire / 2 wire is the amount of psi it can handle.

He’s right. Its just experimental. But 2 + months 30,40 hrs a week @110,120 degrees 80 % of the time, rest is 150 or higher , with no problems yet. We shall see

You are using the 1 wire now?

And ISB is right regarding not using hot water with 1 wire?

I’m still trying to understand all this

the one on the left. Read the spec. I’m not recommending it. I’m just testing it.

Not so much field repairs but a question regarding spares.

I want to have an extra 200’ of hose (in 50’ sections) on my trailer. I don’t plan on using the reel I will store it on, does it really matter if I get some top of the line as long as the darn thing unwinds and I can wind up the bad hose?

Why 50’ sections? Thats alot of extra fittings and headaches, and winding it up is a pain

I was told by Xterior years ago to use two wire with hot water. I haven’t had hot water since 1999 so I’m probably not the expert on that. Don’t buy cheap hose as a spare. When your hose blows, then you’re stuck with cheap hose until you order good hose. Get a two hundred foot roll at least. Short sections take up too much space in the reel due to quick connects

I was thinking that I could just have 50’ sections so if it blows I only need to replace 50’ instead of 200’.

99% of my hoses will blow 10 foot or closer to my gun. Cause of nicking it on fenders, motor bays etc. Just get a whip line, and replace it as needed.
