Engine bogs down

I have a 5.5 gpm machine that works fine with a black tip but when i put on a pressure tip the engine bogs down and shuts off. Does anybody have any ideas on what could be wrong

I would try it with a 10 foot lance and see if it cuts completely off. If it does your machine is dummy proof.

Ok you gotta do better. What pressure tip? And not the color please. gpm range? nozzle size?

Not sure about the degrees on the pressure tips but i just bought a used 5.5 gpm with no tips. So ive been using the tips from my 4 gpm on the 5.5 all i know is the colors so i tried the green and white and black. The black worked fine but the other two made engine bog. I didnt think using 4 gpm tips on a 5.5 gpm could cause the engine to act funky. I figured maybe it was the unloader but i opened that up and everything looks good in there.

Start with getting the right size tips. Sounds to me like the unloader is not working properly.

Alright thanks. What size tips go with the 5.5 machines?

Most likely the unloader is on it’s way out. It’s not helping that you’re using undersized tips. Go to pressuretek and look at their suggestions for the Jrod in your machine size. Not saying you have to buy one but that will give you a starting point.

That depends on what the pump is rated for. Find out the pumps gpm and psi then use a tip chart to find the correct tips.
