Electrical Fires are No Joke

You didn’t carry them out to that all you can eat steak house did you. Might have been those imported china steaks, lol.

Yeah I can’t get insurance I would if I could. But if you don’t tape up those meter boxes START.

Two ideas:

  1. “Partner” with one of your parents/guardians so they can obtain the insurance for the company.
  2. Create a waiver explaining you’re to young to obtain insurance and you’re not responsible for any damages that may happen due to blah blah blah… and get each customer to sign it before you do the job.

I’m so pissed Rick, we were going to celebrate my sons birthday there but there were not open :frowning:

You got me thinking about that darn place and the only meat we had not frozen was Italian sausages!

Although none of us self respecting washers would ever get caught dead washing aluminum siding, if we ever did and there was an electrical issue like this, the entire exterior of the house may become energized, just something to keep in mind. You could be minding your business on the complete other side of the house and reach over to scrape one of those pesky artillery spores and get the shock of your life. If this ever happens to anybody, after you wake up, please run over and see if electricity is the magical cleaner that removes artillery spores and post your results here…

I just recommended the first idea to him directly. Have his Dad be the “owner” and employ him.

I like number 2 that is very smart I think I will start doing that.

My dads job is very strict about his name being connected to jobs/businesses. They run checks every year because it may seem like a conflict of interest.

We should probably all carry a fire extinguisher.

Then use your mom/uncle/aunt/grandpa/etc.

I will try to talk with them and see if one of them will.

I do see an issue with number 2. If I was a homeowner and had to sign a document saying if this kid screws up my house I’m (homeowner) is liable I would tell him to keep rolling. I don’t mind fixing anything I screwed up but obviously I couldn’t afford to replace the siding on a house.

Luckily the house I caught on fire was a remodel house and I believe that there was something found in the home inspection because the next week they were replacing the meter and wiring.

I’ll tell ya what lady, ima charge you money to clean your home and if I screw anything up you also need to take care of it ok? Name, date and signature down below please.

You would be surprised how many people would take a chance to save a buck lol :joy:

I actually don’t see a problem, if he discloses that he has no insurance and the owner is liable for any damage and the homeowner takes full liability

I get what your saying, there’s all sorts of people out there that are willing to take a gamble. The problem with that is that 90% of homeowners don’t know what there getting them self into with that arrangement or have any knowledge of what damage can be done with chemicals, poor little Johnny just purchased a proportioner and turned the knobs to kill mode, the house and vegetation resemble a nuclear waste site, somehow I doubt Johnny will get a pat on the back for trying and get sent down the road with a box of cookies for his efforts lol. Nothings a big deal until the invoice is written up.

I know I don’t know much but I feel I’m educated enough not to completely wreck a house. I do tell the people that I have no insurance because of my age. I tell them that I am educated and take precautions but when it comes to actually screwing the house up that conversation has no meaning. Thousands of dollars out weighs any conversion it just tough because people think that I’m just a kid that comes to PRESSURE wash which obviously isn’t the case. Conversations like that make it even harder because the people can hire a “professional “ for about the same price. Is there some kind of certification I could get that would actually show I’m educated and take those precautions?

Look professional, talk professional, act professional. Those are the best certifications you can have.

The school you go to now can certify you, pay close attention in chemistry class and absorb the things you think you’ll never need to know in life, a lot of what we talk about here with chemicals will be brought up and light bulbs should be going off in your head. You have a way bigger head start than anyone on here the rest is just a few years to grow up and a bit of labour.
