Docks

Who would be a good source to talk to about cleaning and sealing docks?

local epa and find out the rules, first

Process related would be helpful.

Mr. Sauls,

Will you share information you gathered over the past seven months about cleaning docks?

Sure I actually learned quite a lot and then we performed quite of bit of dock work. What toe of questions did you have?

Did you find out a biodegradable cleaner? If so, what is the name of it.

Did you use a surface cleaner or a single tip?

What tip size did you use?

What water pressure did set your pump output too?

did you bid the job as square foot or hourly?

How did you determine which method to use?

How do you bid handrails?

Thanks for the input,

Jack

Did you find out a biodegradable cleaner? If so, what is the name of it.

My local DHEC/epa guys were good with me using oxygenated bleach products. There are lots of them on the market. Just do a search on that one.

Did you use a surface cleaner or a single tip?

We soft washed using the above mentioned chemical. Sprayed it on, rinsed it off.

What tip size did you use?

An open soft wash tip. We used no more than 1200 psi.

What water pressure did set your pump output too?

Above. We used the large orfice tips to reduce the pressure. We rinsed with an 8gpm pressure washer

did you bid the job as square foot or hourly?

Sq/ft

How did you determine which method to use?

Talked to several industry guys

How do you bid handrails?

I marked off linear sq/ft and went x5 for the staining/sealing. You cannot spray stain over open water so all of it has to be prushed on. We also use deck pads to apply.
