DIY Softwash Metering System

Maybe. I’m sure someone is lol.

I’m kinda bummed because I feel like nothing ever really came of all this work. I’d hoped it’d be more…useful maybe? At least I hope all the information put in here is finding good use.

I found it incredibly informative. Although I probably won’t diy a proportioner when I finally get one, I know what to look for when I go shopping.

I learned that there is a considerable difference in flow restriction between 1/2” and 3/4” plumbing.

I learned what the ideal materials and designs are for check valves and other components.

And I learned a lot of little facts and details that I don’t recall at the moment, but I’m certain will be invaluable when the time comes to implementing that knowledge.

This thread is definitely worth a read through, IMO

@JBreezy Can you email me about this set up. I’m interested and am having problems with my system. If you don’t mind . Ronnie.farah@hotmail.com

I learned a lot from this thread too. Don’t get caught up on only using metering ball valves. I made this and it works like a charm. Cost me less than a $100:

Granted, I need to tighten up that connection to the pump input (starting to corrode due to drip).

So how did you figure out the ratios? I am trying to figure the best system for me as I am getting into roof washing after several years of small time pressure washing work. I would love to have the details of that setup!

I took two 5 gallon water containers and marked them off in 1/2 gallon increments and put them on the suction ends and also put one on the output. Then pumped after I adjusted the valves until I got the ratios I was looking for using trial and error. It ended up that both fully open made a good slightly hot mix since the bleach line was 3/4" and the water was 1" with the line lengths that I have.

Hey bud message me or email me very interested zachdronet94@gmail.com

I learned that I should probably just buy one with 2 day shipping rather that screw around trying to re-invent the wheel.

I’d come to the same conclusion. :joy:

But sometimes it’s fun tinkering with things. I do what I want. Even if it doesn’t make sense. mic drop :sunglasses:

Hi Breezy I don’t know how to contact you just joined this site. I’m thinking about switching over to a proportioner set up can you PM me or something.

Email is service@delawareroofwash.com

I get notified still lol. But I doubt I can help you. I have touched this stuff in 1.5 years.

@JBreezy, from your research into fluid dynamics, do you think it would be worth it to build a (mostly) 3/4” proportioner if all I can find for a reasonable price are 1/2” proportioning valves?

From the conversations we’ve had before, I seem to recall most of the flow restrictions happen in the elbows.

Bump: this question is open to anyone with a theory on the subject :upside_down_face:

Sorry, I haven’t kept up with this stuff, everything I learned is in this thread and available for you to read and decide for yourself what you want to do.

Awe, shucks. 400+ posts to scan through… I know you’ve been away from this stuff for awhile now, but I guess I was hoping you were like me and would just have it all committed to memory, anyway :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

No, sorry. You’re way more brilliant than I am lol. Softwashing proportioners is not high on my list of priorities. Actually it’s not on my list of anything anymore lol.

You’re fortunate. My brain is packed with all sorts of useless info from times I got really interested in researching something, and now have zero interest or need for. I’d love to be able to free up some of that space :joy:

Would be intrested

@Mtechpressurewashing apparently you haven’t read through the whole thread. Breezy isn’t going to make these.
