Coronavirus/business slowing down, stock exchange

Stock market just triggered a ‘circuit breaker’ 15 minute pause after it dropped over 7% this morning.

Man, wish I had money to buy crude oil stocks right now.:flushed:

It would seem eminently plausible that cleaning businesses would fair quite well in a minor outbreak like this. I would suppose people would want to be clean right now.

Too early to buy and oil stocks are probably the most risky. I would look at banks, REITs, and generally high quality companies. :+1:

Real Estate is where you want to be. Right now rates are plummeting. I saw 2.82% on a 30yr fixed today.

As long as hoa’s keep sending out violations, I’ll stay busy.

Spent the day disinfecting a 600 linear ft retaining wall

I have 24 jobs on the books and the phone is still blowing up, almost done for the year… maybe not quite.

May the wall owners be blessed with great health.

I agree. I plan on doing this, and have done it before. I’m what they call a contrarian investor.

Crude is going to be trending down for a little while, pick up the lows then, that’s when I’ll be shopping. Think 2 -7 years for a real nice profit, with dividends along the way (I DRiP my investments).

When everyone and their brother was laughing and filling up without worries when gas dropped to about $1.00 (around golf 1 timeframe) that is when I bought a little company called texaco, who later merged with another oil company called chevron. I didn’t have much money then, but if I did I wouldn’t be thinking about pressure washing now.

I bought into biodiesel, made a couple of dollars, then the saudi’s opened up the spicket to keep the americans out of their playground, and I ran for the hills and shorted.

When everyone was down on BP because of the spill, I waited and scooped some up. Turned a nice little profit after about 2 years of waiting.

I invest, never trade. People will kill for oil, countries will go to war over it. I don’t think you can go wrong with a little stock in some of the big guys. Wish I had like 100k to put into it, I never trade on margin. That makes window jumpers.

That’s why you say sanitize instead, it means 99.9% removal instead of disinfect which means 100%

Your real concern should be about the authorities, EPA, etc., and you offering to kill any percentage of living organisms.

If someone asks me to disinfect/sanitize/whatever, I’m going to be giving a very diplomatic explanation that the purpose of my cleaning is to remove the staining of organic substances, and that a natural side effect of my cleaning methods is that many living microbes will die in the process. This is along the lines of what Mary @CaCO3Girl has advised in the past.

What EPA registered product are you using. Because if you aren’t you better be careful about putting the words disinfectant or sanitize in writing. The EPA will find the people that took advantage of this virus scenario and your competition will turn you in.

Look into Carnival cruise lines stock right now. Total steal.

Wait, we get free investing advice on here?!! Love it. No sarcasm intended. I appreciate the pragmatism of you all. Maybe some will rub off.

Good point. I’ll never do a cruise, but I like the investment idea.

As usual, Mary @CaCO3Girl comes up with things I just have to look at and help me tell the tale to sales success!
(k) Fungus
The term “fungus” means any non-chlorophyll-bearing thallophyte (that is, any non-chlorophyll-bearing plant of a lower order than mosses and liverworts), as for example, rust, smut, mildew, mold, yeast, and bacteria, except those on or in living man or other animals and those on or in processed food, beverages, or pharmaceuticals.

If you don’t think bleach will sanitize, check out Clorox stock during all of this. Been making new highs since the end of Jan.

Bleach solutions require a full 10 minutes of contact time to ensure complete disinfection. If
bleach solution evaporates in less than 10 minutes, a greater volume of solution should be applied.

It was meant as tongue in cheek…should have added “lol” ;>)

Lol, I read a LOT…my interests vary. I saw an article that said carnival dropped from $40 something to $20 something…this virus will blow over and people will be back to taking cruises.

I’m not a stock market wiz, not even a dabbler, but I’d have to guess people should buy into oil now, not in 4 weeks as stated above. I could be very wrong but it seems like someone always comes up with random ways to bring the price back up. Chevron took a big hit yesterday with the oil announcement, but those things never seem to last.
