Hey guys, this is an older thread but I searched Muriatic acid and found this thread instead of creating a new topic.
So today I helped a my friends local concrete company apply a muriatic acid wash to a new exposed aggregate drive way that was poured last month. Im always down to learn new things also for some more work and exposure since my van was there all day.
While working with this guy I feel like I learned a lot from him but also think that with my PW experience I could make the process faster and possibly get work out of this guy and more companies.
So the process was (repeatedly) mix a 5 Gallon bucket with 2/3 water and 1/3 Muriatic acid and pour small sections at a time then use a broom to spread the acid around and after you are done brooming (example 20X20 area) you painstakingly rinse with a garden hose… I feel like I could down stream the acid with a soap tip and then rinse low pressure after. The whole job took 3 guys 4 hours to complete and the rinsing with a garden hose was so annoying and slow but that’s the way he’s been doing it for years.
Sorry about the long rant but I really think I could come in and do the same job he did with 3 guys by myself
Thoughts guys?

It’s all well and good until you take a wee bit to much off and then your insurance gets to pay for a new slab.

Plus, the whole working with raw muriatic, and then downstreamed? crazy.

When a fellow works as hard as a concrete guys does, he needs a half a day every once in a while to slow down and enjoy the morning.

YMMV

This is just a brightener and a pre treatment before he seals them up for the house to sell. It’s an amazing difference in color once we were done the treatment.
And I would find out what ratio to down stream so I could get it to work well with my injector obvs.
I have read others are doing this same process for brick so I figured it would be the same for flat surface work too. Also I would be wand rinsing not surface cleaning.

I’m catching up with you now. There are professional grade acids available that are not quite as nasty as muriatic.

And you are talking about using big volume of water and not pressure?

I see your point.

Yeah exactly Tim!
I have in mind using 8GPM for rinsing the surface in a safe manner! Thanx a bunch for your thoughts and input.
