Concrete rig

hi everybody first time poster, long time reader (just signed up few days ago) I’m from New Zealand where it’s pressure washing season all year round. Anyway I have an idea that I would like to run by you more experienced guys so I have a question. I have an old ride on mower that’s been given to me for Free and was wondering how stupid of an idea would it be to try and make a large parking lot cleaning rig with it, maybe attach 2 large surface cleaners at the bottom and of course fabricate mounting for pump and motor. Am I an idiot or is it something that could realistically be done and used in the industry. It’s just an idea all train of thoughts welcomed :+1:

If you do a Google search for “ride on surface cleaner” you’ll see they already manufacture them. There are quite a few different styles. They do look similar to mowers so I’m sure you could rig something up on your own. Some are setup like zero turns and others look more like regular ride on mowers. If you tried rigging one up on your own you’d want to use a pump large enough to put out a lot of gallons per minute or you’ll be driving at a snails pace.

thanks for the insight, any reason there not used much? I don’t think I have ever seen it mentioned here in the forum. Beats the hell out of dragging a surface cleaner on very large concrete work, would cons outweigh pros?

Most of us on here do both commercial and residential and offer a number of different services. I think something like that would probably be best for someone who mainly or solely does flat work or focuses on something like parking garages. You’d have to get a heck of a lot of extremely large concrete jobs to where buying one made sense. I’m sure they’re not cheap. Another thing to consider is you’d have to haul it on a separate trailer so not worth messing with except for really large concrete jobs. I guess if you had a truck bed setup for your pressure washer and everything it wouldn’t be as big of a deal though. It doesn’t take that long to clean most areas of concrete using a surface cleaner so it’s probably not worth the hassle of messing with a ride on. I’m sure they definitely have their place for certain companies though.

These guys are in Australia, but really - it’s not a game changer, even if you could sit on it, you’d have to either have a massive tank or drag the cold water hose back and forth.

Thanks for the reply fellas, that’s what I kinda figured, it would have to be a 2 man operation just for the hose management, I think I’ll scrap that idea for now. Jet-Away I noticed your in Australia, good to know one of my neighbours is on this forum.
