Collection Agencies

Hi guys please advise what collector agency do you use? What should i pay attention to before sign contract or choose collector. Please advise any useful information related.

Thank you.

Why do you need a collection agency?

I have couple customers that own me a money and don’t want to pay invoices. from 100 up to 2500$ (the highest one was a contractor actually)

If you have a contract with them, why not try a small claims court? Or even putting a lien on the structures you worked on as well as the contractors business?

i don’t really have time for that and before you can claim small claim you need to do many actions as contact by regular mail 3 times … e.t.c. or smaller invoices 100-300$ small claim will nit work too.

Never had to do anything with small claims so I didn’t know the process. But if it as easy as sending out 3 snail mails to start a small claims then I’d go that route.

You need to look into a mechanic’s lien. For the larger bills take them to small claims. You say you don’t have time for it but you’re devoting time to searching for a collection agency. It takes a few minutes to write out three letters and then just a few more minutes to drop them off at the post office.

Have an attorneys office send them something with their letterhead saying you will pursue a lien or small claims court. Might might get the ball rolling at least.

This usually works, Most of the time there just testing the waters and seeing how far you are willing to go, once they see a serious letter they pay up

I used Levelset.com for a free lien letter. It’s currently in route to be delivered. I also spoke to a few reps on the phone. They seem responsive and legit. Easy to use interface.

They deliver it free and certified mail after filling out details on the site to auto generate the document. It looks official. I imagine they give you this for free in hopes that when someone doesn’t respond to it, you can use their paid services. Which seem reasonable as well if the invoice amount is enough.

Never been in this situation but i read a while back you should have a good CPA, good attorney, and a good chiropractor always on hand.

My non payer received her notice of intent on Friday and called to pay today after two months of radio silence. Levelset I can officially recommend. I’m sure you could do the same on your own but if your busy and don’t have time for learning new tricks… they did the trick. She called with a ton of excuses and said she can’t have that on her house. How do we resolve this? Simple. $700 and we can call it even
