Going to be cleaning my brother’s stucco (I assume) house in a few weeks (pics attached). It seems like some people on here say they just softwash, others say softwash doesn’t work on stucco. Just curious for any other opinions based on the images. Do you think my normal housewash mix (1-1.5%) would work on the black/green stuff?
Regardless, I’ll just start with my housewash mix and if it doesn’t work, I’ll try making it a bit hotter, but again, just curious based on the pictures if you think I should be OK with regular housewash mix.
Obviously the rust picture is a different story and after researching that a bit, I will likely try a pump-up sprayer with 1 gallon Muriatic acid and 1/2 gallon of water. Any thoughts on that approach and I’m all ears.
Lots of variables here. How are you applying chemical normally. I would try your normal hw first probably going to need it to be hotter but always try weak chems first
I downstream stucco pretty much everyday - 1%-1.5% hitting the wall works just fine - you may have to go over some areas more than once - as to the rust, try oxalic acid instead - good luck
honestly I’ve never tried muriatic on rust because I’ve read over and over again that oxalic is the way to go. So I’ve always use Oxalic on rust with great results - for me it’s just become one of those “if it aint broken…” - if you try muriatic and it works great take some pics and let us know
Thanks man. In case you’re curious, I just found this video that seems to show that Muriatic works better than Oxalic, but this guy might not be using the same strength Oxalic acid that you use. I’ll probably do something similar and test both:
I’ve posted this on here before - DS straight 12.5% with bobs injector - you can absolutely DS that - faster and more efficient with a dedicated pump but it doesn’t mean you can’t DS it.
Really? You admitted that you had to go over that more than once because all you had was a DS injector. Please refrain from spreading poor information/suggestions.
@nopressure for those dark green/black areas you’ll need to hit it with a stronger mix, maybe even more than once. Do you have a 12v or x-jet?
Muriatic is stronger than oxalic btw.
That video shows him using muriatic on vinyl. Muriatic will etch concrete if you’re not careful so I’m sure it’ll do the same to stucco. If you dilute it enough and don’t let it sit too long you’ll be okay but you can’t watch a video of it being used on vinyl and think you can use it the same way on other substrates. Sure, you might be fine but vinyl can handle chems that other surfaces can’t. If sh doesn’t take care of it I’d start with oxalic and then go stronger if need be.
