Cleaning natural wood siding with existing stain

My moms neighbor has a home with natural wood siding that is already stained. The stain is in good shape but black mold and other organic growth is all over it. I’ve read through a lot of posts and most pertain to restaining after cleaning or avoiding those stained areas while cleaning around them. How could you clean the organic growth off without ruining the stain underneath? Or do you just have to bite the bullet and use sh with setting the expectations that their stain will lighten up?

If it is stained and in good shape you should be fine. Do a test spot and see how it dries.

In most cases I have seen, wherever there is mold, the sealer has failed and it will show up as raw wood when you clean it.
