Chemical Pricing

Depends on the oil. If it’s from a car then I grounding kitty litter into the stain with the heel of a boot, the sweep away and add a heavy duty degreaser. I think this forum has been mostly impressed by the purple zep stuff. The magic ingredient in there is the glycol ether EB. According to wikipedia it also goes by the folowing names:

2-Butoxyethanol
Butyl cellosolve
Butyl glycol
Butyl monoether glycol
EGBE (ethylene glycol monobutyl ether)
Dowanol EB
Bane-Clene
Eastman EB solvent
BH-33 industrial cleaner
Solvaset
2-BE
EGMBE
Butyl oxitol
Ektasolve
Jeffersol EB

The thing is you have to spray this stuff straight on the product first, then you can come back with the pressure washer. For animal based fats and oils it’s EB and Potash (ak.a KOH, potassium hydroxide.) The higher the pH the less likely you are to have to use hot water. If you promise to be very careful I can private message you a way to make very hot cleaner on site without having access to hot water. I don’t want to post it for any kid to read it.

2-Butoxyethanol & sodium hydroxide is used in oilfield applications, best I have ever seen. An etchant can be added to mix for concrete cleaning. Great write up Miss calcium carbonate [CaC03] girl.

To clarify, only add the acid (etchant) to the EB. Never EVER add an acid to a cleaner that contains SH or sodium hydroxide. Very toxic gases will result.

You are correct & it just adds salt & water, are you a chemist ? or a vendor ? EB & etchant is a incredible brightener.

My hope is I’d give chemical advice and y’all will give me advice on how they are being used. I’ve done more than one real trial, and things didn’t go how they went in the lab.

I Promise CaCO3Girl, I swear , went on internet to (learn) how different is Sodium Hydroxide from Calcium Hydroxide, found limestone cycles, and then the light bulb came on, CaCO3, I said to myself, am I stupid? I’m searching google while having the great chemist on the forum. Thank you.

Not sure I’ve helped anyone yet, but just type my name in with the @ symbol and I’ll find my way over to any chemical question.

I Promise  @CaCO3Girl

And, @CaCO3Girl, how different is Sodium Hydroxide from Calcium Hydroxide, a lot? Thank you. I like experimenting a lot.

Why is Pepsi so much more delightful and refreshing than coke?

Growing up all sodas were called cokes. “What kinda coke you want?” “I’ll take a Nugrape”

I’m assuming Nugrape is grape pop (which we call it here).

Grape Fanta on occasion is like a fine wine for a man child like myself.

Whatever happened to Shasta? Do they even make it anymore? I use to love picking out all the different flavors when I was a kid.

Hey IBS…do they have Ale-8-One out your way? It’s big in Eastern Kentucky. I’m not sure if they deliver outside state lines or not. I’d always load up on it whenever we visited the wife’s sister’s family. It’s different but good. They still use returnable bottles which is neat but you can also buy disposable bottles and cans.

I’ve never run across Calcium Hydroxide. To me this means it either doesn’t work as well as sodium and potassium hydroxide or it’s wicked expensive.

Caustic soda (sodium hydroxide) is cheap and does a great job. Why go elsewhere?

Never heard of it. Send me one

Will do. I’m not a fan of ginger ale but it’s somewhat similar just fruitier I guess. Or kind of like a dew but not sweet and thick like syrup.
