Bones or pearls? I would choose pearls. CaCO3 is interesting in that the molecules can be structured in different ways giving the material built from CaCO3 different physical properties. This is why chalk and pearls are very different but chemically very similar.
I think it is really cool that a product sales company would put one of their chemists in a forum like this to monitor their products and help people out. This is a true resource that should be explored more. I am certainly not a chemist. Just too lazy I guess. But have always been fascinated by it. I have a periodic table app for my phone. Also a PT T shirt. Really beautiful with many of the properties of each element. My specialty is glass. Have been cleaning windows for almost forty years now. Over time I have learned a lot about what different chemicals can do to glass surfaces. Also low e surfaces. My blog is www.glass-smart.blogspot.com I have just started an online newsletter for the window cleaning industry. And have developed different âproductsâ for same industry. Done consulting work, written articles, and given seminars. It has truly been a lot of fun. I have learned that there is a crossover technology between pressure washing and window cleaning. Reason being some of the chems which are used in PW can do damage to glass either by staining it or etching it. This type of damage usually can be restored. But not without the right products, and technology. Even pure water can leave stains on glass for different reasons. I have always thought it a great idea for PW companies to connect with window cleaners who would clean the windows immediately after the power wash. Of course this would raise the cost of the entire job but it would help to prevent any problems. If this were not possible then there are ways a PW company could ensure that no damage results. Much of what I know I have learned by experience and testing. Not so much book learning. Although that has definitely played a part.
First I would like to ask our resident chemist what company she works for and what products are being used here by pressure washers. I donât think our community hosts will mind much.
