Bulk SH Storage

I’ve come to a point where I need to start keeping bigger quantities of sh on hand to avoid running for barrels weekly. We went through 330 gallons in may and another 300 this month. Anyone with a bulk tank set up at home or the shop care to share some info or pics of your setup. I’m thinking IBC tote blacked out(not sure with what) on some sort of rack.

:dizzy_face: How much sh are you using per house!?

5ish depending on how big and dirty it is? Not really sure honestly. When the tanks empty I fill it. Bulk of use is from roof washes. I doubt 300 bats an eye for some of these guys!

Out of curiosity, approximately how much SH do you go through a month during the summer? @Innocentbystander

My guess is hes gotta break 1k but I doubt he keeps track!

I’m confused… we use up 55 gallons of sh in 2-4 weeks washing 2-4 houses a day 4-5 days a week… how the hell are you going through 300+ gallons a month? (Not judging, just wanna know your process)

He’s washing roofs etc. Uses a lot more SH than a house wash

Every roof we do is a min 20 gallons. We make 65 gallons of roof mix min. Depending on how bad a roof is or how hot or cold it is the mix gets stronger or weaker. So 2 roofs could be a drum.

Do you only wash houses and mostly vinyl? @WeebieWashin

In the summer I’m downstreaming straight 12.5 as well so that accounts for alot of use as well. Its rare we dont clear a 35 gallon housewash tank weekly, sometimes 2.

We use approx. 1000 to 1400 gallons per month. Every 3 weeks we get a delivery by a tanker. It goes fast.

What do you store in or do you just get totes delivered. I’m going to be storing it outdoors for now.

We have a 1000 gallon double walled tank from Univar. It has a remote capacity reader on top of the tank so When it drops to about 300 gallons we receive a email and they deliver 2 days later.

Nice!

I get 5 or 6 drums delivered on Monday then the guys will stop by and fill up tanks during the week if they are running low of if they are driving a truck home. We don’t do roofs, just buildings.

A shop would solve all my problems but it’s not in the cards this year. I got all these empty barrels in my side yard and it looks like I’m making meth. I’d like to solve the problem before someone gets pissed and makes an issue of it.

So, you can stack IBC totes. Get 2 of them. Fill the bottom one with water and use the top one for SH so you can gravity feed it. Or if you have a transfer pump just stick it in the corner of the shop and suck out of it. I personally have a 55 gallon drum on the beast and it lasts 3-5 days and I work near a pool supplier that I have a decent deal worked out with. Takes me 5 minutes at their shop to fill the drum.

I’ll probably just go with the tote. I just wonder what to black it out with since it will be outside in a spot that gets a few hours of sun a day. Think regular spray paint will work?

I gotta be honest , I’ve only ever washed a few dozen or so roofs… but even then , I used no where near 18-20 gal sh per 55 gallon of mix… I’ve washed roofs with 1-2 gal per 5 gallon mix or 3-5 gallon per 55 gal mix (softwash) I must be missing something??? Roof still came out super clean, so what exactly is your process for roof washing??
