Bought a lemon

Not to take issue with your post, good sir, but my simpson mega crap 325 lasted less that 25 minutes before it locked up. My early posts lament my misfortune and the subsequent replacement by Amazon.

While you cannot unscramble an egg, you can certainly make informed decisions that may reduce your costly repairs and down time. My recommendation aligns with the brain trust here that advises to buy good equipment, take care of that equipment, and solicit the advice of those with experience BEFORE throwing good money after bad.

Ok cool. Thanks alot everyone for the help and the meme’s about my precious dawn. Il give this pump a try when it comes in.

What George said is right, for smaller residential work part time. However, Dawn is going to let you down someday and there’s real potential to ruin some siding.

If you’re doing it part-time, buy a gallon of Elemonator from pressuretek. It’ll last you all season.

I think Dawn may be the scapegoat here. As a newbie my poor technique was more to be blamed than was the Dawn. I agree with @Racer that Dawn’s probably not the culprit, but to eliminate it from the equasion is a good thing. Elemonator is my go-to surfactant these days. It seems to be unique in the marketplace. I wish you good luck and fortune. This is a great business, and this forum a great place to glean the knowledge that make your experience much more profitable and fruitful.

I appreciate your post and everyone else’s. I think your experience is important for people to hear that have or are considering a Simpson/Dealt purchase. At the same time I’ve also heard of techs who’ve used them without issue. It would be interesting to see statistical evidence although I would guess that is close to impossible.

Ok ill grab a gallon of that and a xjet. Sounds alot cooler that liquid chlorine and dish soap. Will i hurt that udor pump if i let it run and not spray for awhile like the other guy said or was it just for that stock pump.

Brands are less important than relationships. The best lesson I’ve learned from @Innocentbystander is the importance of developing relationships with suppliers. One wil never develop a relationship with Simpson. I encourage any of you to buy your next machine from someone you can call on a first name basis. Buy your supplies from someone who will coach you thrugh your next difficulty. Buy from someone who will help you build your business. The one exception is Bob at PressureTek for Elemonator and parts like Hansen SS quick connects (NEVER underestimate the value of Hansen SS QCs). HOWEVER, because he makes himself inaccessible I limit my exposure- I would never buy a PW from PressureTek…

Unfortunately, I won’t be there this year. I am still in start up phase. I was looking at attending and know it would be worth it but just could not spare the cash right now. Thank you.
