Decision time. Pump on my GX390 is bad. I can go with a 4/4000 direct drive, or 5.5/ 2800 on a gear box, or a Predator 22hp with an 8/ 3500. Money is tight. I was leaning toward the 5.5 but wife says do whatever!

I’ve been happy with my 5.5. It’s a nice upgrade. I’ve been pre-treating with x-jet no proportioner so I can move quickly on dirty driveways now. If I had to start over again I would go 8gpm and be done with it. I definitely wouldn’t go back to 4gpm. It’s a slug. Tough decision if money is tight. But you’ll definitely make it back with jobs.

8gpm will make money quicker in my opinion.
From what I heard predators are hit and miss so dont forget to put a bit away each job to buy the backup motor.

I’ll probably go with the 5.5 pump on my existing GX390 for now. Then I can keep it as back up later.
Anyone try the Allison flow sensing unloaders? Also they seem have hybrid (hydraulic) pressure sensing ones. Both are more expensive than a K7 so that seems the better choice for me.
Don’t go direct drive, that’s all I can offer.
