At what point do you just leave?

Everything I know about Canada has been proven to be a lie. Next you’ll tell me Strange Brew wasn’t a documentary about Canada

This reminds me of when i went to Philadelphia on a whim and to order a Philly cheese steak. The guy at the counter asked what kind of cheese: American cheese or another one. First time we heard of it so my wife asked with her soft voice what was American cheese? The guy turned red and got furious, almost screamed " it’s Americaaaaan. Cheeeeese! And angrily threw it in the sandwich. We’re still not sure what to make of it. He seemed more insulted than if we had called his mother names.

People from Philly aren’t really indicative of our country. American cheese is processed goop not fitting for consumption and anyone that takes take perfectly good steak and mixes it with vegetable on bread is not too be trusted.

I see things differently. There are way too many friendly or at least respectful people that need their houses washed to waste our time with the rude people or the crazies. We have to respect ourselves if we want other people to respect us.

But the pretending to be deaf part was funny.

You probably went to the tourist traps known as ginos and pats. I don’t like their cheesesteaks at all, in fact the cheez wiz ones they serve are disgusting to me.

You could have went a dozen different directions and got a good cheesesteak. I haven’t been in center city in awhile, so it is hard to say what is good down there anymore, if anything.

I’m not disagreeing with you, but sometimes you don’t know they are rude (or you only meet the other half) until you are on the jobsite. You can always walk, that is your power in the relationship. Once again, if you are beholden to the dollar you are staying.

edit: I am taking a prior work situation and applying it PW. I’ve done this in real life on numerous occassions. to elaborate, I once worked in a maximum security prison until I figured out what I wanted to do with my life. There were a couple of guys in the shower area saying things to me i.e. questioning my sexuality, my intelligence, whether or not I was inbred, this type of thing, trying to sucker me in there. Not to paint some kind of dark picture, they were probably just going to get me wet and laugh about it, but that is jail life and guys get bored. Anyway, I heard them just fine but I pretended I couldn’t hear them with the noise in the block and the shower din. I did the whole lean in, cup ear, had guy red in the face screaming at me, he kept inching closer to the doorway, when he got close enough I slammed the door on him. So many guys came out of that shower laughing. Dude was salty for a minute. Talked to him the next day and he was cool, knew I got him before he could get me. That was the end of it. Life goes on. I played lots of games with guys in jail, that is how we all passed the time.

I have this story that happened in Vancouver, Canada (and they say Canadians are nice lol).

We were washing this one townhouse (got subbed out) and the houses there are really closed to each other. And i knew things were going to go downhill when the next door neighbor comes out while we are rinsing in-between their houses and start complaining about how we got water on her windows… we kindly explained to her its just water and nothing else but just kept hounding me and my helper. I finally lost it and in a very curt way told her to please go inside the house as there’s nothing we can do and its a liability to have her around while we are working. She comes back out a second time and complains about water on her windows again and i just told her if she has problems with water on her windows then what does she do when it rains and to take it the big man upstairs. Man that lady was looking through her windows just mean mugging us and giving us some evil eyes. Me and my helper would stop working and just go to a corner and laugh at the situation… and then it went to hell.

The owner comes back and shes just swearing at me and my helper. She start bitching and whining about how we got water under the garage door. I let her know the way the floor is slopped there is absolutely nothing we could do (the concrete slopped towards the door and the drain was right beside the garage door). She then opens her garage door, gets in her car to put it inside and almost ran me over on purpose. I was like “forget this” and i yelled at her saying she almost ran me over… she comes out saying we got some water in her boxes and other items. I let her know that we do not currently have xray vision so we cannot see through the closed doors and how are we supposed to know her seals under the garage were not good and that she should have mentioned it before hand so we could do something about it. She lost it and then starts swearing at me infront of my helper and saying some racist shiite about mexicans (im latino). I finally completely lost it and i will quote exactly what i said " Tanner, grab our machines, hoses, supplies and pack it up and forget this lady and her bologna and lets get the freak out of here". She starts saying how we cant leave because the job is not done and the house don’t look clean and i just literally started recording her on my phone (incase she got violent with me) and she went back inside. We packed it up and me and my helper were just flabbregasted about what happened.

Well a few days later and after alot of back and forth with the contractor, turns out her mother had died that day and i guess she took it out on us. I told the contractor that we do not read minds and how were we supposed to know that??? and also if that’s the case there was no need to start swearing or trying to ram her car at me (dont really care about the racist crap, thats just pure ignorance and words lol).

oh and lastly she ended up calling me and apologized for everything said and done and that she was extremely embarrassed with everything that happened. I told her i understood but next time she could have asked us to leaver her home so she could grieve and we would have gladly packed up and came back any time she felt better.

Sounds like a professional contractor didn’t show up at her place.

Sounds like a proactive, responsible attitude would have been helpful.

Did a middle unit from a small 1-story 55+ townhouse comunity. The neighbor kept coming out berating the crew, getting intimidating to the one that was a female (who was bigger & stronger than him most likely anyway). Crew said they didn’t want to deal with it, client was apologetic. I swapped crews for the 2nd half of the day and sent 2 guys, one was 6’ and 250+…the guy just peered out his window and wouldn’t even come outside to say a word…job done, client happy

yes youre right… i should have been all professional when i was under her car getting run over (maybe yell out “customer is always right”) as my body is getting recked… should i have thanked her when i was at the hospital (if i was lucky)??? Maybe sent her a thank you card from the hospital bed saying how she helped me get some days off i needed? or maybe i could have come back and haunt her for the rest of her life (if i died) ??? I don’t know… so unprofessional of me to value my life over some peanut pressure washing job… yeah thanks for the input. ill make sure i take it into consideration next time.

You just proved my point

IBS, were not all as smooth as you sir.

Good to see you around, fine sir! You’ve been lurking out in those woods for too long! Welcome back!
