Amateur Advice, please share your knowledge!

Hello there!

I am writing you as I am really interested in doing some pressure washing as a side job to help fund my university studies. I currently don’t have any real commercial experience with pressure washing, and think that commercial would be the best route for me. As I am a university student, I don’t have a large starting budget to work with, and also don’t have time to work in a commercial power washing company.

I live in a European country, where most houses/driveways/patios are made of some sort of brick or stone.
As I’m sure you see here all the time, my idea would be to start small in one or two nearby residential areas, and build enough capital to see what the possibilities would be afterward (while still keeping in mind time considerations). That being said, I am really looking for some advice on where to start! So I have a few questions, but if you have any topics in this forum which in particular helped you out I am really interested in your advice and knowing how you grew! Is it possible to start out in this way, doing a few driveways/properties at a time? What do you think is the minimum starting capital needed to be successful? What is the best approach to learn while doing, without performing in a way which is unsatisfying for a customer?

Any advice you can provide me with is greatly appreciated!

Kind Regards

This forum has been plagued recently by an internet troll who had/has multiple accounts. Some of his “introductory” posts had a similar tone as yours, hence the conclusion jumping.

@Chris, can you tell us if @WaschDoktor is indeed located in Europe?

Hi Alex!

Thanks for the response! I am not here to troll, just to learn.
I am from the US, but studying in Netherlands. I grew up mowing lawns with my brother for cash and it was quite fun and learned quite a bit from it!

I think that there are quite a lot of opportunities here for pressure washing in the residential sector, however I don’t have as much experience pressure washing as I do with yard care. I found this forum via some internet research and have been reading off and on for the last month and a half or so, but I thought with spring coming up that it’s a good time to starting being active if I really want to try this out!

Looking forward to hearing from everyone!

Hello everyone! I guess I’d like to ride off of this thread and introduce myself as well. I have been thinking about pressure washing and a few other things for a small business and made the decision a few days ago that the time is now. I’m outside of Charlotte, NC. I think that there is a lot of opportunities in any direction from here.
