Am I Really that strong?

I’ve gone through 5 recoil assemblies just this summer…that’s not counting the ones I’ve restrung as backups…WTF is going on…I even restrung this one with 5150 paracord…lasted 3 weeks…
I’m literally carrying 2 spares with me at all times and I’m not even putting the tools back in the toolbox…
I’ve gotten so good at changing these things it literally takes me 30 seconds to change one out I just hate restringing the damn things at the house when I’m done for the day…
I mean I realize I’m a big boy but Superman I’m not…
Anyone else have this problem

Maybe the paracord you got is a Chinese knock off. That yellow string doesn’t look like paracord.

I don’t pull start but if I did I slowly pull it until I get to the compression stroke, stop there and let the reel take it back up, hold trigger down and pull it slowly.

Used to have that issue with paracord. Somebody on here recommended this stuff, and so far it’s holding up much better:

That handle shows up as unavailable now…Were you able to get one of those recently?

It’s also possible that the automatic compression release failed. It’s a spring and arm on the camshaft. The spring may have broken, you can check it by taking a compression test. If the engine is showing very high compression, the release isn’t working. Your compression should be around 75lbs. Anything like 120 to 145 or anything close to that and it will always be difficult to start with that bad spring.

I’ll do that…I almost bought that handle when you posted it before in the other thread, but waited and now it’s gone from Amazon. They have another one on there, but I don’t like it as much.

Here’s the link for the one they have now:

@dperez pull starting is on it’s way out for me too lol…this is probably my last pull start machine!

Electric start is a heck of an invention!

@Ecowashpressurewash you are a pretty big dude… Maybe that big armed pull is too much for that little machine lol

That is by far the best pull cord I’ve been able to find. I’ve been using it for a number of years in my equipment and in others that I have worked on. I’ve never had one break.

I’m gonna give that pull cord a try. I’m done with paracord. It sucks. It worked great for one season now I keep replacing it.

Make sure it’s authentic paracord, ive did the cheapo knockoff version and it didnt last long at all before it undressed itself.

I bought mine from Amazon I guess I don’t know if it’s a knock off.

I was done with pull start the moment I turned the first key on these hondas. Benefits of electric start also include where and how you mount the motors, the key module can be mounted anywhere. Something to think about down the track.

I had the same engine and same problem. Solution, bought a bigger machine with an electric start. Bought a 5-1/2 GPM, after seeing how quickly I finish a house…could kick myself for not getting an 8.
